1st off, I have 2 games going. Both are saved and I flip back and forth between them. When I tried to load one, I found that all the settings had been changed to those of the other game. What happened?2ndly, when you use the "Target Nuke" function, is it suposed to make a noise or display something? If so what am I doing wrong to not have it work? |

I've only played through one long game so far (and several short ones), but there are several things that's bothering me. Here are my questions...1. Is there any way to keep the Governors from building units? It seems that no matter what focus I put them on (science, etc), they still build military units, even though I don't want any. 2. As many has pointed out, the game seems to play the same track all the time, even if you uncheck the Auto_Replay thing in the Main Menu (if you look at it later, the computer has checked it again). Is the only way to press ESC and manually select the tracks from there? 3. Has anyone else experienced missing space planes? If I tell them to "warp" to a different city, sometimes, they simply disappear (with the unit inside them)! Just gone, like that! No matter how many turns I wait, they don't show up, and they're off the Unit List. Is it supposed to be this way? A bunch of other stuff was annoying me, as well, but I can't seem to remember them. Anyhow, that was the important stuff. I hope someone can help, and if these questions have already been answered a zillion times, then I apologize... but I couldn't find the answers on these boards! |

Me and the computer (who was the British) were both building the wonder "The Great Wall" the message saying that they were close to completing it came up when mine had three turns left. I then rush bought it costing me $3562, the next turn the message of them completing it came up. It did not say I completed it but it was gone from the build list, no video came up either. This is quite unfair, and I think somebody should do something about this in a later patch. |

Hi!When I try to patch my CtP II v1.0 to v1.1, the install program says it can't run since my OS is using the wrong language. I run Windows 98 v4.10.1998 (Swedish edition) and on my CTP2 CD it says "Call to Power II, Made in EU, Activision, 30013.101.UK" (the game is in English). Are there anyone who can help me? /MiK |

Hi,Sometimes when I am quickly moving units around, I accidently move one into an enemy with whom I am not at war (or an entire fleet into a well defended enemy city for that matter ). Then I have war, which I don't want. Can't there be any warning for that ? (like in civ2) Or "undo last move" ? Thanks. |

I have tried all the suggested fixes on the Activision site for fixing this problem and it still wont work. Anyone got any ideas - Activision have suggested that we update all our drivers - we've spent hours doing that and it still wont play! We now have direct x 8 as the one on the CD didn't work after several re-installs. |

Hi!You can read in the CTP2-Help (in German it is called "Lexikothek") that a destroyer can bombard troops and aircrafts and the frigate can bombard cities at the coast. But my ships are not able to bombard this units or cities. Only my battleship can bombard cities. Does anyone know why? [This message has been edited by QGer (edited January 03, 2001).] |

I don't seem to be able to surpass the 60-limit in citysize (at least not in the medium level). This puzzles me somewhat, since the scorebreakdown states that one gets a certain amount of points for cities < 300000, another amount for cities > 300000 and < 1000000, all the way up to a population of 5 000 000! How the heck is one supposed to get a city to grow beyond a size of 500? This looks to me that someone made a pretty big mistake while coding the 1.11 patch (which i now use, and it is a sorry piece of code). Am I wrong here? Can one pass the size 60-limit? Have I misunderstood the scorings?I also think that including the "conquered civs" x 500 points in the score was a big mistake, because it makes it impossible to have any kind of hall of fame-thingy, since one can simply let a city revolt, then conquer it and get those yummy 500 points and repeat the process over and over again... This should've probably been posted in another forum though.... |

I'm having 2 problems that I didn't see addressed in the first 2 pages of the forums First, despite having the technology and a completely built out queue, I cannot build fusion plants. Is there a trick to it, or are they hidden somewhere? The manual/library were unhelpful... Second, whenever I load a game, it appears that the build queues and unit movement are incremented, though the "clock" doesn't advance. I can't imagine this as a feature... Scott |

Hello All,I just bought CivII yesterday and tried installing it on my system. When I go to play the game, the screen first changes to black, then switches back to the desktop and minimizes, a couple of seconds later I get a "Illegal Operation" error by windows and the game shuts down. I've installed DirectX 8.x and WinMedia Player in the hopes that this would help, but no dice. This is really frustrating considering I just paid $70.00 Can for the game. Please help whoever can. Thanks

Ming just game be CPT2 for Christmas. I never played the earlier version. I selected the hard setting for the first game and started playing. 100 turns in, it was obvious that I had no clue what I was doing. So I read the manual (wasted effort) and started again. Not much help but as in Civ, the ai developes faster, so just go out and conquer AI cities. But two things are real annoying and I'd love a little help. 1. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make tile improvements. I looked and looked and found nothing. I finally turned on mayors and half my civ was improved like magic. I know I'm missing something basic, but I would really appreciate any help. Please be specific, help a senior today. 2. I have an 233 speed machine. (ordering a much faster one tomorrow) I though I was playing civ MP it took so long. It's so slow between turns. It takes forever to open a city screen. Is this normal. What options can I turn off to speed it up? I can take a nap in the time it takes to start the game and load up a saved game. RAH Thanks for any help. Someday you will be old too |

I have a 700 MHZ Athlon, 128 M RAM, and a basic 8M ATI video board. The movie at the beginning runs fine. I have disabled all animations. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? |

You don't hit print svreen. It's in the clipboard. For example; You are playing, or viewing the advances whatever. You press ALT+[PRT SCRN] Now the screen is in the clipboard. Exit the game and load your graphics program. If you don't have one use MS Paint. After the program opens go up and click on [EDIT] then click on paste. You will see a message box telling you "The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like the bitmap enlarged?" Click [YES] Now your screenshot is in paint and you can save it. It would help to use a better program so you can modify the image. However the simple goal is get into a file. Then at least you have it saved somewhere and can work with it later. I like PaintShop Pro 7.0, it's about 99$ on the web but you can find it cheaper sometimes in a store. On sale or whatever. It even comes with an Animation Shop. Good for viewing AVI files. You can even save the frame from the AVI as a TGA file to use in call to power. |

Hello there no your questions haven't been asked before and always ask questions it helps me think of different small mods to make. 1:There is a way.In BuildingBuildLists.txt you can set what buildings your mayor(and the AI) build. If they can't build any they build units.Try adding whatever buildings you want them to build in whatever categories.2:what seems to work is if you check repeat track off then after closing the window go straight back into it. it should then play random tracks.unfortunetly you haveto do this every time you resart the game 3:dunno haven't got that far. haven't heard of it. ------------------ " mind over body " |

The only thing I can think of is RENAMING your city that you will remeber or like ROME1 with the number so you know when it was captured orr WRIGHTING it on a piece of paper and then looking for it.Hope this helps. Davor |

I am not shure if this will help you. I read other people having this problem so I am not installing direct x 8. so i only can say is uninstall it. i am not shure how you do it cause i installed it but had to use my windows me to go back to anthor days setting.IF you dont have windows me i am not shure what you can do except to cry or reformat your hard drive and install everything from scratch and not install direct x 8. (wich i did alot before i got windows me) Davor |
