Now that the 2.42 succession game is finished I'd like to start two new OCC succession games. One for MGE players and one for 2.42 players. If you want to join, please post your email address and whether you want to play MGE, 2.42 or both. You can also post whether you would prefer a random map or a scenario and any other game settings you would like. If there is enough interest in these games, they will start next weekend. |

Paul, you can enlist me for the MGE game. As I have just finished your scenario variation 1 on the OCC#23 river map (landing on AC in 514 BC ) - make it a no-huts game, please!!Edit: e-mail = broeder@bart.nl ------------------ If you have no feet, don't walk on fire [This message has been edited by Ribannah (edited February 26, 2001).] |

You can fill me on either MGE or 2.42 with a slight preference for MGE. I don’t mind playing either a scenario or a random map. What I would like is a challenge. For the random : large-gigamap/small continents/archipelago/cold/dry, for example. MGE a bonus with the aggressive AI.------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

Julius, I have played 4 turns in the gigamap succession game. The problem is that the turns take so long and I hardly ever seem to have enough time to play a turn. When I have a free 15 minutes I can play a couple of OCC turns, but it's not enough to play even one turn in the gigamap game. |

Paul, maybe you should declare that 5 turns is enough and then forward the game to one of those true ICS champions. ------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

I see that we have 8 players for 2.42 and 6 for MGE. I think 8 is a bit too much for an OCC succession game, so I suggest that we start two 2.42 games with 4 players each. Also, I already started both the first OCC succession games, so I would like it if someone else would want to start these new games. Please let me know if you want to be a game starter. We need one for MGE and two for 2.42. Based on the reactions so far I think everybody wants to play on a random map. |

Three games looks good. I like the random map idea. I'd offer to start but I hate to start us off wrong. I played 2 OCC games last night. I had great river starts and I finished both with 25 points as Skrobism the Foolish.Maybe, the 2.42 games can have the same start map and the 2 teams can compete for a final score. Can the MGE game start with the same map? I know the AI is different, but what the heck? We could have a 3 way competition. What say ye? ------------------ "Bonjour, you cheese-eatin' surrender-monkeys." [This message has been edited by skrobism (edited March 01, 2001).] |

I like the idea of three games with the same map and AFAIK that should be possible with MGE & 2.42 versions. I too am a little bit shy to start a game because I'm only played three OCC games so far and are hoping that someone more experienced would volunteer to that! |

If there are no other mugs - I could start us off - if I circulate the 4000BC save in 2.42 format the MGE team can start from there - assuming that I'm it - should I just take the first start I get, or can I pick 'best of three'?------------------

SG[1], in the first 2.42 game I restarted two times because I couldn't find a somewhat decent site. All desert and mountains and such. But you shouldn't restart over and over again just to find a 4 whales site with 15 rivers. As long as it has a somewhat decent city site.Anyway, if we are going to do this I don't think there should be players playing in both MGE and 2.42 games. Julius, SG[1] and I are currently listed for both games, so we should choose which game we want to play. Julius has already posted that he would prefer MGE, so we can strike him from the 2.42 game. In the end, that will leave us with 5 and 6 players respectively, so we wouldn't have to split the 2.42 group in two. SG[1], would you prefer to play MGE or 2.42? |

I am not the keeper of the rules, but I think last OCC Succession we played 10 ten turns before passing the game. Is that the 1st Millennium? I guess it would be.Right then, 10 turns unless told otherwise. Should we finalise the lists and then break this into 2 threads? ------------------ "Bonjour, you cheese-eatin' surrender-monkeys." TEAM MGE4000 BC We have Bronze Working, Ceremonial Burial, Iron Working, Mysticism and ... Warrior Code . Full of enthusiasm, the Carthagian Settlers explore their surroundings ... 3950 BC Terrain looks very bad after all! Not even a second special . We decide to move further into the unkown black, even though chances are we are just giving the other team a huge headstart 3900 BC Another silk, but in large forest 3800 BC Finally, a hut: N-Chariot. We sight a buffalo near more open terrain 3700 BC Wheat! This looks more like it 3550 BC Wow, another hut. We get 50 gold. Our Chariot sees a decent spot with river, whales and another buffalo, but it's a long walk for our Settlers. The wheat/buffalo spot may have more to offer, even though the city square is hills. We take a gamble and have one of our Settlers irrigate the Buffalo. 3450 BC Silk discovered, this looks like home (4 specials). First Settlers arrive and start to mine the hills on the intended city square 3300 BC Buffalo irrigated 3150 BC Our Chariot pops another hut: 50 gold. Carthage founded at (59,11) (Silk, Wheat, 2 Buffalo, no rivers, probable ocean access). We start building Settlers. First research goal is Alphabet. Because of the hills research will be slow for the time being, so we intend to grow to size 3 asap. 3000 BC N-Settlers complete mining the hills on the city square 2750 BC The Lady Ribannah leaves her Carthagian citizens in good health. May they forever prosper! Note to successor: the Settlers built won't disband the city (they can join after the city hits size 2 - watch the happiness, there is a way ). Challenge to Team 2.42: to found the city on a different location (hey, we came here first! ) Edit: zipped save sent to kcbob and Paul ------------------ If you have no feet, don't walk on fire [This message has been edited by Ribannah (edited March 03, 2001).]

Turn completed through 1950 BC and sent to Julius. In the second millennium of our great people’s history, one came forth to lead the people. A man of vision, albeit 20-200 vision, his name was kcbob. As he looked over the land and the city, he was frustrated. The gods had decreed that only one city would ever be built and it’s beginnings were slow. As kcbob began to make decisions which would set the nation’s course forever, the last two of his predecessor’s decisions, Ribbanah the Magnificent, brought fruition. A settler was trained and the Alphabet was discovered. This last event merely showed just how Ribbanah earned her place in history since she was able to set down her history before learning to write. Be that as it may, Code of Laws was chosen for futher research as the people clamored for a king (or queen ). And realizing that we would have only one city throughout eternity, the people began to build a big. No wait, make that a large. No, I think it should be an extra large. How about a huge? No, I have it… a Colossus!!! Yes, a Colossus so that knowledge might increase. But in the very next season, unhappiness swept over the nation. The people’s spiritual well-being had been neglected. With no other recourse, the big, large, extra large, huge, Colossus was torn down, a temple erected and before you could say “Waaahh”, unhappiness was no more. The Colossus was begun anew, buffalos irrigated, chariots sent searching, and all was well with the world. We had music. We had rhythm. Who could ask for anything more?
