Sorry guys, I thought I was going to go last so didn't bother checking the forum/email over the weekend. I've just downloaded occ1.sav from SG, and will play my 25 turns in the next hour or two. Sorry for the delay... |

Well, looking at Ribannah's log, I see I went the wrong way - South West instead of North East. Woops. As a result, our city location stinks - literally, it's built on a swamp. here's our log so far for the v242 game: ah, warrior code. excellent... (we also have the less useful bronze working, ceremonial burial, iron working, and mysticism) 3800BC - horsemen NONE (hut) 3450BC - legion NONE (hut) man, this sucks... the only site I've found that has any possibilities is a whale and pheasant with a grassland at the other corner. Problem is, its on a swamp! Beginning to convert to grassland... why did I have to start 2950BC - 25 gold (hut) 2850BC - swamp converted to grassland 2800BC - founded Carthage (40, 24) 2750BC - start research in alphabet well, my enlightened reign is over, and none too soon. Good luck guys. edit: I've sent the save off to SG1 [This message has been edited by Tom DeMille (edited March 05, 2001).] |

Team 2.42 - SG1 takes the helm:2750 BC - switch production to Settler 2500 BC - Alphabet -> Code of Laws 2450 BC - Barbs (2 Legion + King land to the North) Fortunately our Legion has nearly returned. 2350 BC - Settler -> Warrior 2300 BC - Legion becomes vet by spirited defence of woodland 2200 BC - Horse meets Roman Horse; swap Bronze for Writing; (does that make Monarchy available next?) swap Iron for Alliance; sha'n't ask for gift - frightened of tech. (they have Horse & Masonry) 2150 BC - Tom DeMille's vision has proven a Godsend - Silk to the SE! Settler 'Bs' back into Carthage for size 3; 2100 BC - Warrior#2 -> Colossus (tempted to try for Library, but might miss the Wonder) 900 BC - if I have counted my beakers correctly ... 1850 BC - Code of Laws -> Monarchy (oedo's unfinished works ...) (12 turns using the Pheasant for shields, <10 using the ocean to maximise trade) 1750 BC - Veii spotted 1650 BC - Romans get Pottery 1550 BC - hut sighted in forest - I was beginning to think that there were none - maybe Rib's bl**dy goblins got here first! 1500 BC - hut yields 50g and my stint is over ... Thanks Tom - not such a stinky location after all ------------------ Scouse Git[1]

Took the game in 1950 BC. 1st thing I did was to put the rate at 60% science ! Discovery is 22 turns : gulps ! 1900 BC settler adds size to Carthage, now size 3 and discovery is 11 turns, with worker3 on silk : better. 50 gold in hut, yes the Brenzaidas are bold ones. 1800 BC difficult decision : should the chariot look for other huts and other nations or come back for the soon to come barbarains leaders. Brenzaidas are bold ones and the chariot heads in some direction (no informations for 2.42). 1700 we discover Code of Law but cannot choose Monarchy. We take currency. 1600 BC, 50 more gold from hut. 1150 BC : Colossus build. This continent is big, big, big ! 1100 BC : none legion from hut. Our neighbors are not that far away ! Constant micro-management between food and trade (we got nothing great to build so far). 1000 BC we discover currency. Monarchy is next !!! We’ve built too warriors up to 900 BC. 800 BC, now size 4 ! 775 BC, barbarians ! 725, Monarchy the worst year for Oedo’s table. Writing next. We’ve got a marketplace. 650 BC revolution, 625 BC we’re a kingdom now ! Barbarians never approached. |

Game sent to Paul. I played more than 25 turns because Kcbob played less than 25. I’ve respected Paul planning. It’s all going well except science is slow (but 8 turns now). I don’t remember if writing was avalaible instead of currency. If yes, I made a little mistake. A library is required ! No foreign contact yet ! Sorry for the time I took, but it was quite a week for me !------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

Julius, why didn't you revolt in 725 BC, or did you mean you got Monarchy after completing 725 BC (ie really in 700 BC)?

Despite the 500 its 500 year length, my reign was relatively uneventful. There was one barbarian uprising near Carthage, which was promptly put down by our legion. Republic has been discover and Roman was proclaimed the first Counsul. Roman decided that only gazing on the stars can lead us to discover the new secrets of the universe and hence commisioned research into Astronomy. In the meantime the Egyptians completed the Great Library and the Chinese constructed the Marco Polo's Embassy. Upon discovering Astronomy the construction of the great Copernicus' Observatory was begun. It continues to this day. Extensive exchange of knowledge was initiated with the Egyptians and the Roman's which yielded such useful technologies as Medicine and Trade, but unfortunately when Egyptian's took pity on us and helped us modernize our nation they gave us the wheel! . After all these exchanges the research time increased from 11 turns to 18! Embarassed at this and unpopular among the people, Roman resigned in favour of the new ruler.Up to SG(2) now. Unfortunately I don't have his e-mail, so I sent the save to Ribannah and asked her to mail it to him. Tks. |

SG(2) you are expected to play to 1000 AD (25 turns). After that I don't know - Paul didn't continue the schedule at that point in the obvious expectation that we will have reached AC by then ... ------------------ If you have no feet, don't walk on fire |

520 - Status Report ...we are Republic and size 5. Copernicus is half built and researching Theory of Gravity @ 18 turns. OK to work ...time to see some happy people. Settler sent south. 540 - Newsflash The Indians have nearly completed their great project "Copernicus". Well guys and girls - we have 44g in the bank and a Legion + Diplo in Carthage and no caravans. Cost of Copernicus is 504g. Houston ... "We have a problem!" Settler starts mining wheat. 560 - Indians complete Copernicus. Romans + Egyptians go for Shake's. We celebrate to size 6. 580 - Size 7 - Can't celebrate further. No Colosseum/No Construction. 600 - Just hoping we get Shake's - I have fingers crossed! Destiny out of my hands - now I know why I play ICS. 640 - Egyptians becoming more hostile! This alliance is on its way out. 720 - Shake's Sell Temple. Need money. 760 - Steal Construction from our "Allies" the Egytians - and got away with the customary "Minor Incident" caution. 780 - Celebrating - build Aqueduct. 800 - Size 8 - Money! give Romans construction and receive gift of 150. The trireme has its eyes on a Barb king off the coast of Elephantine, but it's stacked with a Legion. I think it better come home for caravan duties. 820 - Size 9 - Settler mines wheat to silk. 840 - Size 10 - Coal Caravan built - Rome demands. 860 - Size 11 880 - Size 12 - end celebrating. 960 - Theory of Gravity Engineering next - Build University - Starting to build Caravans for Newton. 980 - Settler roads silk to north of Carthage. 1000 - Caravan--------------- Game sent to Ribannah with copy to Paul. ---------- SG(2) [This message has been edited by Scouse Gits (edited March 10, 2001).] |

OK, played my turns until 1AD and here is my history:0-625 Romans 100g 1-600 2-575 China completed HG, starts GL, Indians start LH, Romans GW 3-550 Marketplace-->Temple 4-525 Egypt starts GL 5-500 6-475 7-450 S5, temple, we now have 10 shields 8-425 Trade-->Literacy (I really hope that Romans have discovered map making by now!) 9-400 Indians built LH 10-375 Hides, gave trade to Romans 11-350 12-325 13-300 14-275 Romans discover bridge building (sigh) 15-250 Dye 16-225 17-200 18-175 China builds GL, Egypt change to Marco Polo's (smart guys, those Egyptians!) We discover literacy-->the republic We exchange it for bridge, get 25g from worshipful Romans 19-150 Romans 25g 20-125 Warrior for martial law 21-100 Romans 25g, our warrior uncovers a fish at our city's radius! 22-75 S6 23-50 Diplomat, we really need to explore more.. 24-25 Romans stop with GW, Vikings start Sun Tsu 25-1AD Our hides caravan has finally arrived at the door steps of Veii which just grew to 7 and still demands hides. The two other caravans are getting close to the Rome empire as well. Our settler has irrigated two forest squares into plains. Trading one shield to one more food and two trade arrows (with Colossus) sounds like a good bargain to me. We should be in republic very soon. Science rate is 10, science box is 60% full of beakers, caravan bonuses just about to arrive. We have a big problem though, we must find the other nations soon. That's a challenge to my successors! Now I'll hurry to send the game to Paul & Scrobism. |
