Are you really sure about above Wonders being MAJOR (= only ONE civ can build them). Every modern industrial country can build a "great canal". And the whole purpose with "Internet" is that it is boundless - no specific country or "empire" can claim it for themselves. Shoudnt that be reflected in the game also? A suggestion; Forget about the major/minor dividing for now. Concentrate instead on Wonders i general. There should be 36 - but we only know a handful of them yet. |

I agree though how they break up between Major and Minor Wonders is pretty much speculation, very little has been said regarding such breakdowns or listings, only that they will be divided as such. The Gamespot preview said that the artwork in Civ3, is mostly finished, however that doesn't mean that its close to locking which units, improvements, or wonders will be included |

I guess, it means we know about a lot more Wonders then just "a handful" then. Anyway, If I remember it correctly there was 27 Wonders in Civ-2 - 9 more to add. By the way; I think its a good thing to keep the old Civ-2 ones, in Civ-3 as well. They should be tweaked, trimmed and adjusted - both by themselves, and (then appropriate) their appearance in the tech-tree. [This message has been edited by Ralf (edited May 16, 2001).] |

My guess, and hope, is that they will not only include a 'Great Canal', but also a 'Chunnel' wonder. Where the GC wonder connects two oceans via a canal, a Chunnel (or 'Storebaelt' bridge or whatever) would connect two continents through a bridge or tunnel. |

From the totally fake interview with Jeff Morris, complied off the fact boxes in PC Gameplay:GSUK: Wonders were one of our favourite parts of Civ II - will they be as vital as they were in the first two games? Wonders of the World are as important as ever. We have all the Civ II ones, a couple of new ones, some that are old and function in new ways and a brand new set that we call "small wonders". While you can only construct one of each Wonder of the World, small wonders can be built by every civilisation, such as the Strategic Defence Initiative, Apollo programme and Manhattan Project. GSUK: So can you give us a taster of how some of these new wonders will work? The Great Canal is one of the new Wonders in the game. When you build that, you can choose a place on the map and connect two oceans, so it's like the Panama Canal. You can charge a fee for using it. We also have the Great Wall, which is an old Wonder, but now you can choose a section of your border and you get a wall that is really hard for someone to get through. We have another great Wonder, the Internet, but we're not sure exactly how that's going to function. We know it's got something to do with education, it will create a smart populace, but apart from that we're stumped. |
