How about implementing all the previous civilization games in the civilization 3 pack? Obviously they can't be selling many more of these games (civ1, civ2, civ2ToT, scenario packs etc.) when civ3 hits the shelves!? This would be a nice way for us old-timers to try a game of civilization 1 from time to time (many of us had it on Amiga, or has thrown it away...), and for new players to see the development over the years. What do you think?

I'm also wondering which magazines that has previews of civ3, and more importantly which months these hit the shelves??? Does any of these mags have all the info currently available, or do I have to buy them all?

Yes, I like the idea. I suggested the idea also of a Civer Edition with a pewter globe or settler or something along with a cool map, etc. In my mind, this will be the last "true" Civ as we have known it, so this Civ3 should be very commemorative.

Since Firaxis have stated that they have looked at the original Civ-1 roots for inspiration, they might add Civ-1 for Windows (only 4.18 Mbyte) for purely sentimental reasons. But what about copyrights?

About Civ-2 and TOT? Well, regardless copyrights, I would instead prefer if they choose to exploit the limited storage on the expected 1-3 CD-ROM discs on CIV-3 stuff instead, dont you? After all, this is the reason why most people want to buy the package. Besides, TOT was a rather crappy "update" anyway, and it didnt sell that well. Let it rest in peace.

I would pay almost anything for a Civ3 collectors edition.

even though i don't have the computer to run it!

the computer i'm saving for can wait (i'm really close, ~$500, and with an economic recession on!) by next year i should be able to get a decent one.

Ralf,

Believe me, there are lots of room in a CD-ROM. 650 megabytes. Most games don't use one tenth of it, unless it's something graphic or audio heavy. Civ 1 probably won't take more than 5 MB. What kind of Civ 3 stuff will be there to take up all of that 650 MB?

Wonder movies, animated graphics, music sound tracks...

Games seem to be taking up more and more space as time goes on. Civ2 had it's own CD (used about 100mb, didn't it?). This is Civ3 we're talking about here, 5/6 years down the road from Civ2...it will be a lot bigger, and will probably need a whole CD to itself.

I hope that the game will use two CDs so that I'm able to play multiplayer games with my brother at home without having to buy the game twice.
