IMHO, the Civilopedia is way too omniscient to be real. I can, in 4000 BC, look up the benefits and cost of the Apollo Program, or just about anything else! Who else thinks the Civilopedia should fill as you actually discover the technologies, instead of knowing everything at the beginning?

OK,
so you will see the things as game progress.

How long (How many games) would it take before you would know them?
Or even better, how long before someone would put the list on a www-site for download? (Then playing MP would be fun )

I have also thought about the same idea, but since it only makes sence in the first game you play I don't think it is worth the trouble.

It's kinda like the "help" screen of the game. I think it would be cool if Firaxis didn't release any information on the tech tree beforehand, and you had to play through the first time to discover everything, but Jeje2's right, it would be on the 'Net in a heartbeat.

Norinel, you are right about Civilopedia spoiling the first game, but hidden the Civilopedia, as Jeje2 pointed out, is not the right answer.

If you look The List v.2 (or try some Forum search) you can see some very good proposal to add some change and dynamic to tech tree every game.

My favourite (check it here: 2.4 Prerequisite points and all others proposal, if you like) is the concept of amount of specific research points needed every tech level, defining multiple path to research advance.

That will leave plenty of uncertain about research every game, without the needs of a "hidden Civilopedia".
