Why do we play using only shields to build something. Most wars waged on this planet were waged to obtain resources. Resources should be located on the map and should be as scarce as they really are. How can you wage a modern war without oil for example? Impossible. How can you wage a war without iron ore? Impossible. So maybe you should first buy it and then build the army IN ORDER TO obtain resources you need. In all previous versions of civ games every player had enough resources to build everything he wanted and could easily live in autharky. And the point in ruling an empire is to CONTROL RESOURCES. If anybody thinks the same: mancow@go2.pl thanks for voice |

Hello Boleslav and welcome to Apolyton. This topic has been discussed numerous times before. I support the idea, but there is also some strong opposition against it from players who think it would overcomplicate the game. To help you orient in what has already been said on the subject, I will bring up (*bump*)a very recent thread on the matter. |

Ok, it has been done. The thread is called "Making Trade Essential..." It is by no means all that has been said regarding the implementation of separate resources in the game, but it is the most recent discussion. |

As Roman said that was said by some, I too think that making different resources to build improvments and units will make the game to complicated, as it is now, the trade is essential because you get money with which you can buy (produce more quickly) your improvments and units.------------------ Proud member of the state of Israel. |

OK Taurus, maybe you are right about complicating the game by separating resources. But whole civilization game is copmlicated. And it's all about this game. Tell me. If you possess iron ore you are not likely to sell it to somebody who doesn't and would be likely to attack you. Or if you possess wine and somebody else also does it's very likely that you won't be able to sell it, so you would probably like to eliminate this player. Besides you should know that it's not that easy to buy resources during war, bacause every empire rushes its military production.
