it has been awhile since i have played civ II, kind of been on a ctp kick. but my worry would be how the units will work as far as game action goes. don't get me wrong they look great (details questionable, shield, crosses on tanks, etc..). i like how the ctp units actually fire their weapons and move thoroughout the map (with an option to take off animation!!) I also like the ability to create an 'army' of units in a square on the map. whereas, in one of the old civ's (not sure which, ctp kick remember=) if you attacked a square with numerous units in it, and won then all units were gone. i really think ctp does a great job with how the armies actually fight each other. keep up the good work! |

Yes they are pretty nifty.. I like the Bombard ability too. But as for the animations, they should continue for the entire movement turn. Not like now, when a unit, to walk three squares, walks into the next square, stops, walks into the next square, stops and walks into the next square. In civ3, he should just walk for three squares. Same for missile and planes and ships and subs, but especially missiles. In fact, when missiles and planes are travelling long predetermined distances, maybe they could fly a little faster or something...------------------ -Shiva Email: shiva@shivamail.com Web: http://www.shivamail.com ICQ: 17719980 |

We can be fairly certain that unit stacking - or armies, if you insist - will be in Civ3, as IIRC the function already existed in SMAC (I could be wrong...).As for what the units will do when they move and what they will look like, it's all really only eye candy. Fine graphics and animations are cool, but by no means necessary. I would assume 'tho that Firaxis will include all the goodies you mentioned and more, since SMAC has most of them and Activitoin used something similar in CTP. Gotta keep up with the competition. The 3 images supplied sofar by Firaxis, however, do not represent what the actual in-game units will look like. They are concept images, and a member of the Civ3 team has confirmed that we will not see them bouncing around the map. Perhaps they will apper in the Civilopedia, who knows. | |
