I was watching the History Channel the other day, and I got an idea for a new wonder: the Atlantikwall. Basically it was Hitler's attempt at delaying the western Allies should they make any kind of amphibious assault. It consisted of pillboxes, machine gun emplacements, bunkers, mines, armor barriers, and other assorted nastiness stretching along the coastline from the Pyrenees into the Baltic and guarded sections of the Mediterranean Sea to boot. The labor it took to complete was on par with a couple of Hoover Dams. Basically it would act as a defending unit along the entire coastline of a Civ. It's not invulnerable; it can be breached by enough firepower (ie, op. Overlord), but it'll chew up anything that's not an impressive undertaking.-- Jared Lessl |
