I found some screenshots for the upcoming game Anno 1503 at Gamespot:Check out: http://www.zdnet.com/gamespot/stories/screens/0,10865,2623718-9,00.html Should civ3 look like this? I think that the city view should, maybe a little bit more zoomed out, but basically like this!! ------------------ No permanent enemies, no permanent friends. |

My, that really puts 1602 to shame! Civ3 like this would look neat... maybe cities could be artistically decorated but you could only see it in extreme zoom mode. And each city should be different or else the game will seem really funny when you zoom in again. |

I think an "individual look" of cities should be reserved to the city screen and maybe extreme zooming, depending on its geographic location and the buildings in it. But I could imagine different architectural styles for buildings in the different civs (or in cities you conquered from other civs). |

Yes, that's a good city view, but not a good main screen. |

Wow! Imagine a city view like that! It's awesome. But um - if the main playing screen was like that then the game would go dead, because imagine just trying to animate a single mech inf unit from civ2 - it's actually a battalion, so the computer'll have to draw like 50 individual infs or something. Then multiply this by 50 mech infs battalions and you'll get a computer that'll be hotter than an oven!------------------ No, in Australia we don't live with kangaroos and koalas in our backyards... |

One point - that picture would be a great represenation of a level 1-4 city, but not for a level 25 city (hint hint)------------------ ~~~I am who I am, who I am - well who am I?~~~ - "When man first discovered that milk comes from a cow, what did he THINK he was doing?" - "Women's breasts are like toys: They're meant for kids, but usually it's the fathers who wind up playin' with them." - "Practice makes perfect, but if nobody's perfect...why practice?" ~~~Oh well oh well so here we stand, but we stand for nothing~~~ - Apolyton Picture Contest IV |

But the game would look great this way. Imagine, if the city screen was just a max scroll of the real map, you could see a lot of detail zoomed in, but only a little zoomed out (to minimize the need for too many graphics at any one time). |
