How about in the game we have the option to make a General/Admiral unit that would allow for groups of units banded together, so they move together rather than having to move one at a time and then move at different speeds. This General/Admiral has units attached to it and they move together and they get a bonus as they get experience. Experience was a thing that was really missing from Civ2 veteran was not enought it should have more than just two levels. Anyway this General/Admiral could either be made from an exsisting unit for a cost, like a promotion or a dedicated one that you could build in your cities. As I have not used any of the other civs appart from SMAC, I am not sure how their combat worked but if you do have a battle screen were the units fight like I think CTP does then the general would allow for formation of units like artilarry in the back and infantry at the front. I hated when I would land eight uits on a cost, then a bloody tank would attack and all eight would die, this was never fair, if they are together on one square either they each should be attacked one at a time, or fight together.

I think they will have stacks (of units) in Civ 3. As to a specialized leader type unit, I am not sure.In Warlords, you can have stacks running around without a leader. In Heroes of Might and Magic you can't. So I am not sure which model Civ 3 will take. |
