Will you rush out and buy it or take a wait and see strategy? Most of my "computing"(ya right) is on a mac and in past I had to wait.Which was good and bad.I don't own many lame games but I had to sit on the sidelines for awhile.. but now I have access to the darkside....and access to much much more as far as gaming goes.So ,shall I rush out and get stuck with a CTP?Maybe I'll wait and let everyone else figure out the bugs and whether or not it is a winner.I don't know.I imagine here in Canada it will run $60+ when released. Its not the expense but rather being shafted with another high tech frissbee |

I picked up Master of Orion 2 in 1999. $15.I picked up Civ II in Jan 2000. $8. TOT? last month. $20. I don't regret a thing--'the sidelines' rule!

I'll go out to the store and see it sitting there for $49. I'll look at the box and see how nice the screen shots look. I'll walk up and buy it (feeling like a sucker). I'll take it home and install it. I'll start the game and notice how they screwed up the entire thing with fancy worthless graphics (now understanding why I felt like a sucker earlier). I'll close up the box and find a place for it probably next to CTP. I'll fire up CIV II and be happy again. |

Well, I still haven't bought Test of Time or Call to Power after my disappointment with Alpha Centauri. However, since I feel like I have had input into civ III via the forums, I will probably rush out and buy it The curiosity is killing me!------------------ Apolyton Empress My first Web Page |

I'm going to end up doing the same thing MWHC is going to do. Alpha Centauri is Ok but, oh, it could have been so much more. The same goes for CtP. ToT is actually very good I think. The SciFi game is the best. |

I was a little impressed with what it said on the box of CtP, and I might have bought it, but it said that it needed more Hertzes than I've got (I got 133, it needs 160, IIRC).So I said "No, not this year," and went back to trying to win on the MPGE. And I strongly suspect that Civ III will outHerz me again. Jim W |

I'd like to say I'll wait but I can just imagine a few of my MP buddies going to the new game as soon as it comes out and then I'll have to get it

Everyone:Well, I'll probably buy the product — that is, if they ever port over to the Macintosh. In that case, I sure as hell hope TPTB took some ideas from Apolyton into account. Personally, I'd love it if they used the Civ II game engine with extra techs, civs, a map/scenario editor and other doo-dads. After all, there's a reason why Civ II and MPG remain the most popular games in the Civ tradition. C:CTP had some nice innovations — public works, conducting trade, sea/orbital cities — that would be interesting if brought over into the *original* Civ II environment. CYBERAmazon |

As I was quite late to civ(got civ II gold Nov.1999) I plan on driving to the factory where it is pressed and hijack the truck, only taking enough copies for me and my MP buds, then I will find as many amphetamines as I can afford and play 72+hours until I know more than Markus and Eyes, then challenge them, win, and perhaps never play again LOL Definately will be a good time to get my friends to take vacations and leaves of absence from work. :-) |

I will do the same thing I did with Civ Gold MPE... Rah and I will track it down the day it is released. We will both fire it up and play with it a little bit to see how it works, and then we will start a MP game if it seems worth it. But like MWHC, if it sucks, there will always be Civ II to fall back on. |

I got the money and horsepower, so all it comes down to is this: if it's NOT real-time and if it's NOT scifi/fantasy-based, then I will most definitely pay full price for it the second it hits the shelves. |

2 weeks before it's released I'll read ALL previews 1 week before it's released I'll download the the warez version and play it and post what I think about it I'll buy it the day it's released.Even IF the game is crap, how could I refuse to buy it ? I'm a fan, right ? BTW the more civ3 we'll buy, the bigger the change they'll ever produce civ4 CyberShy |

I can't get civ3 right now because my family's computer is not advanced enough, but once we get a new one, I am going to buy it. Even if its not as good as civ2, it still will be fun.------------------ Long live the Communists! -- SilverDragon |

I'll wait to see what the experts have to say in the Apolyton Forums. Too many new games based on old classic games aren't worth $2. |

well, maybe but I consider Civilization (1) a classic and Civilization II -based on a classic- was definitely worth $2, so there is a chance of Civilization III also being a classic. And concerning the topic; I'll go buy it directly as long as my computer is powerful enough.

from what I've seen the 2nd version is usually the best in any game. This is true of computer, nintendo, psx etc. They usually make improvements that come from player feedback. Then they go crazy and butcher version #3-why?Hopefully,the list of ideas will be looked at very seriously although some of the suggestions kinda scare me. |

I'll look at the box, see the nice pictures, fancy comments by various magazines!! and then put it back on the shelf!!!! i've given up looking at the spec requirements about 2 years ago when my P75 was already out classed!!!! Thank god civ2 works on a P75 nicely, i just have to do without those bloody 3d dudes!??! I love being cool and fashionably out of date!!! |

P75 was fashionably out of date three years ago, man....I expect to welcome love back into my life for a couple of hours before taking it back for the 10 day no quibble money back guarentee, and then returning to the joy of Shogun and its Total War. I expect. |

I would say that this thread should be called Micropose's suckers thread, to the fact that you all will purchase the game even if its crap. I'll be glad the day it comes out and causes another round of insults, putdowns and disapointments. After buying TOT and hearing all the complaints about BOF, I'll just sit back and listen to the noises and see the signs "Micropose closed for business due to giving the public crappy games." but I'll also pray for a new sign, "Micropose on top of the world with their lastest groundbreaking game." Guess will all just wait and see. |

There is no question I will buy it as soon as it is out. And whichever one is best for me between Civ3 and CTP2, that is where most of my Civin will be done. My bet is on Civ3 tho. ------------------ The journey itself is the thing~Odysseus |

I'll buy it the second it's available. I think people are going to be surprised at how good the game is going to be. I'm talking a return to mega-addictiveness. *sniff* *sniff* the good old days.I think I'm going to ban myself from Apolyton *Ming anxiously picks up 9 mm* in the months leading up to the release of Civ3. *Ming puts 9 mm back down.*. Reason being that I don't want to see everything new that's gonna be in the game. I don't want to see the goodies until they appear before my eyes when I play the game. No doubt Apolyton is going to get the inside look first. And I don't wanna see all that. Part of the letdown for me with Call to Power was having access to all of the inside looks at the game before it even came out. I was like, "I've already seen this, I've already seen that, etc." ----> HEY FIRAXIS, don't give away too much information!!!!!! Only after I've played the game for a few months, then I'll come back and get all the inside info. I think I'd have alot more appreciation for it then. |
