Hello I am new to this UBB and a very hack filled site it is. I use this UBB mainly http://adamt65.virtualave.net/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi but as I bought Civilization: Call to power then I thought I would look for a specific UBB for such game. 76 members online at once with 46 guests!?! I dont even have 46 members at my UBB!! Anyway I had the original Civilization on Amiga and then Civilisation 2 on PSX and now Cic:call to power on PC. I am planning on getting Civ call to power 2 soon though I edited the original game on Amiga but only text such as in diplomacy screens, cant do anything morethan that though. I want to really go to town on this PC version and need help. Can anyone help me? |

Hello New bloke!I would strongly suggest that you try Call to Power (CTP) Play by Email (PBEM). Once you get the hang of the artificial intelligence in CTP, you will find that it is somewhat fun but not much of a challenge. You have to give the A/I a bunch of help "manually" to even out it's ineptness. CTP PBEM is totally different. You are competing against real humans (on a reasonable time scale). In my opinion, PBEM is better than Internet Multiplayer because of the much deeper and richer strategies that you'll find in the slower paced PBEM. Much more human interaction and diplomacy makes the game a more enjoyable experience. Quinns

Hi * Welcome! I agree with quinns. You should definitely check out play-by-email. I just picked it up a couple of months ago, and I'm already hooked!Come by the CTP-Multoplayer forums and check out what's happening. ------------------ phoenixcager of the Civgaming Network. Visit the CGN forums. |

No, not we're not asking you to play the standard multiplayer game, but the play-by-email game, where you play a turn, and then send it to the next player by email. All you need is an email account and the the Activision 1.2 patch (which can also be downloaded from http://apolyton.net/ctp/ . It's fun and you can play your turn whenever it's convenient. In any case, see you around ------------------ phoenixcager of the Civgaming Network. Visit the CGN forums. |

I am sure the cumputer there has a floppy drive. (I would think) the email save file would fit on 1.44. (it does with SMAC (Alpha Centauri)) |

The save game files in the 3 games I play have been between 100-200kb, so I'd say that you'd be able to get by with copying the file onto a floppy. The patch, however, happens to be over 3MB, so bad news, unless you have a zip disk or something... ------------------ phoenixcager of the Civgaming Network. Winrar is the zip utility I use it is great for those peeps that need to fit things on a floppy. Winrar will create a series of self extracting files that will fit on one or many floppys. So lets say you have 2mbs of info Winrar will first make a self extracting .exe file and install it to floppy number 1. Then it will create another file and install it to floppy number 2. All you do is insert floppy number 1 it will start extracting the information to your hard drive. Then it will ask you to put in floppy number 2 to complete the installation of the files. Simple easy to use and great for transfering large files without a zip drive or burner. |

Maybe some knowledgeable and kind person with this "winrar" utility could do our new friend here a great service, by posting him the chopped up files? |

Yes that is exactly it, and for anyone else that needs this too I have it in three 1.2 m.b. files. They are self extracting so no need for the win rar program. |
