I was used to civ2 but when I played CTP for the first time I suddenly had a city over 300 and lots over 100. While in civ2 my biggest city ever was 34. Is it me or the program?!? |

On Chieftain level celebrating cities grow by one per turn. This can lead to huge cities. However, on higher levels celebrations don't have such a huge effect. They just lower the amount of food needed to grow, so don't expect huge cities on higher levels. |

The tile improvements in CTP allow much greater food generation than in CivII. Cities in the 40 range at more difficult levels are not unheard of. In addition, there is the Beef Vat city improvement which essentially gives unlimited food, allowing ciies to grow to infinite size. However, since the Beef Vat only provides what ever food you need +5, the grwoth rate of cities which rely upon the Beef Vat is very very slow. |
