Check out http://www.cdmag.com/Home/home.html?article=/information/dates.html and look down at Feb 2000.
It also says Civ3 will be released in May. That dosen't look convincing.

Mission Pack? WTF?
No much-needed 1.3 patch, but they're going to give us (ahem, I mean charge us for) a Mission Pack? They've got to be joking, or just insane.Civ3 in May, huh?  Yeah, well, I'm not buying it--only if they plan to give me a salary and of course an "Official Beta Tester" title.  Good Lord... |

Chips&Bits(CGO e-shop part) have been list "mission pack" for ages....
it doesnt mean anythingyou can understand that when it lists civ3 for may when we had Jeff Morris of Firaxis posting on these forums that you could say civ3 is still in prototype phase.... |
