To create units, what type of image editor do you need? Is it very difficult to design new units from scratch?------------------ Come visit our Star Trek Forum at: http://www.stcchat.com |

I doubt if any normal pic editor (paintshop pro or PhotoEditor) would work as animations are needed in combat or movement and would have to be in .spr format. there may be a special editor for creating new pics but as far as i know there isn't one yet. Sprites from CTP1 can work if you edit the right files check: ../../Forum44/HTML/000032.html?132 for help on that.------------------ " mind over body " |

Since the sprites from CTP1 work you can also use the makesprite utility to make new sprites. It should still be in the CTP1 downloads section. You might also want to look for old topics in the CTP1 creation forum for some more help with this utility. Or maybe those threads have already been archived, in that case look in the CTP-Creation archive. |

Yep, you can use the CtP1 MakeSprite Utility. |

I personally found Harlan's Unit Graphics Guide very useful when I tried (and failed ) to make unit graphics myself (as well as the documentation of the actual MakeSprite Utility), you can download it at the CtPI Modification Section.I hope you have better luck than I do (but that shouldn't be very difficult since I'm a complete moron when it comes to making graphics) |

No, it's completely independent of CTP. It's a standalone program, just read the readme and you'll be making sprites in no time, BTW I could use an Apache attack chopper if you get into making them... Omni |

How about a Zepplin! I'd do it but I'm artisically and graphically challeged and it would be horrible. |

I'd like to have seen a gatling gun before the machine gunner. But then again, I'm still trying to figure out how they went from cannons to self propelled artillery guns without the combustable engine first.------------------ History is written by the victor. |

ContradictioN, Sprites are used for units, cities and special effects, so you can make all those with the MakeSprite Utility. Terrain is different, you can't change that (yet). |
