I have a an idea - well ok, not a serious idea, but how about implementing feats of disasters in CTP II? For instance, one feat of disaster could be called Florida Ballot Confusion. Upon changing your government to Democracy, for the next 20 turns, your civilization's happiness decreases by -10. |

The science rate should drop too, since the best and brightest are busy explaining what a chad is. But, the lawyer unit gains power. |

It's not that bad an idea. Might be a way to introduce things such as the Black Plague.------------------ - MKL Shameless Plug: http://www.poetic-license.org ............. All welcome. "And a sun that doesn't set but settles" - Augie March |

The "Sail around the world" feat of wonder holds a special place in my heart. It was the most obvious feat around, and so was always the first example when we were talking about doing feats, and the first implemented when we did. Therefore, I suggest someone should make the opposite feat: Being the last person to sail around the world causes the world to become flat, but only for the player who failed. If you try to sail off the edge for the next 25 turns, your ships will fall off the globe into space. Some sea monsters wouldn't hurt either.

One problem with that Ogre - ancient Babylonians and Egyptians already knew the earth was round. Christopher Columbus set sail to find a global route to India - not to prove the earth was round. That knowledge was already centuries years old by the time Columbus set sail. So no one had to actually sail around the world to know that it was round. |

But if you tell the story like that, it's just no fun, sailing is much more exciting than geometry. Boy is the name "MrFun" misleading! PS I used to sail around the world way back in Civ1 just for the wonder of my feat! [This message has been edited by JamesJKirk (edited November 30, 2000).] |
