I just started on a world map, too scale about 500miles to the tile and I am seeing if it is a desirable map...Then I have a question... how can you place specific goods on specific tiles (i understand they need to be on the right terrain) but I tried cut and paste... nodda... help.. or all is lost |

Is this size smaller than the world map we got from palpatine?. That one was to big.You can place goods. Its below all the tiles 1,2,3,4 buttons, only 1,2 works it seems. just click on the map and the marked type of goods will appear. /Mathias |

The engine supports up to 4 good types per terrain, but the data we shipped with has at most 2 types per terrain. That's why there are four buttons, but only two work. It's possible to add more types by editing the right files. |

Matte979...You're right that it is just a little smaller than the other world map out there.. but it's more realistic (proportionally that is) if you like then great if not then great... the amazing thing is that by cutting the size of the map only by a few thousands tiles improves performance for low end and high end machines alike... And to both of you thanks for the heads up on the placement of goods... next thing I need to do is find out if Nordicus' extra goods for CTP will work in CTP2... anyone try that yet... goods are always a nice addition.... who ever heard of the rockies producing tea anyways? Thanks Omni

Okay... not too much reply but anyways... the beta of the map should be worthy by Friday... fingers crossed, and I need some people with various computers to try this out and give me some feed back on high end and low end computers... basically this map is designed for 13 + 1 players... I know a far cry from 32 players but who has a dual P4 running over 1.13 and 4Gigs of ram... certainly not me... but the least you're comp should be is 128mb and PII... this ain't a baby map and 14 players is alot of computations... so if you're interested... drop me a line...And anyone interested in converting Nordicus' goods to CTP2 would get a really big Christmas present from me... so I can complete this map... I'll give it a shot. I've got a PIII 850, 128 MB RAM 32 MB ATI All-in-Wonder 128; PIII 650 Laptop, 192MB RAM, 8 MB ATI; and a PIII 550, 128 MB RAM, 32MB Something... And if I must an AMD 450 with 64MB RAM, and an 8MB onboard Video card. Let me know. Also I was thinking of converting Nordicus' goods to CTP2 sometime soon, I'll just do it a little sooner than I had planned. ------------------ Yours in gaming, ~Elucidus |

Okay... it's ahead of schedule... http://pcouw.homestead.com/files/Test.zip This is beta version 1.0, and still requires a fair bit of work... namely 1) River locations - Gotta find a few maps for accuracy 2) Goods need to be placed - Nordicus hopefully 3) Nation placements need to be set to choose So basically what you have is the base map... unzip it into ...ctp2_program\ctp\save\maps and run the editor. If I knew how to place civs properly I would have and sent out a scenario setup... anyone care to tell me how to... But anyways... here's the map... enjoy.. critique it... I'll change it and hopefully have a great map in a week or so... Okay it's 2:17am... and I'm still playing away... it's not slowed, it's not bogged down it's not had any noticable problems, only the cosmetic ones... but at 151 turns, 13 civs, 210x150... and all on a PII 333 with 256 SDram... not too shabby... might want to add a few more civs.... can't get ahead of myself yet...
at 197 turns... all civs located and only a moderate 2 sec slowdown from the 151 stage... so I believe that this is a good size on low end machines... Still need more feedback Thanks Omni aka PCOUW [This message has been edited by OmniGod (edited November 29, 2000).] [This message has been edited by OmniGod (edited November 29, 2000).] |
