I love the Drones as a faction...go around, make a pact with the consiusness or the angels and research is not going to be a problem. Try to avoid battle the first couple of turns, multiply, maybe use police state (should be planned ahead, since you dont need al that children crap)
So in the beginning you just have some problems with tech and overall score, but once your population starts grwoing the techbonus kills off everything
btw: has anyone ever gotten a foriegn city due to drone riots?

I have played through as the Drones and never received another faction's base from drone riots. What is the percentage of it happening? It must be lower than I thought it was.

strange. In the manual it sounds like a cool feature. But if the chances are like 1 in a million I could care less...
And I was trying to get a city quite hard with probe teams makeing workers mad..

Unfortunately, in order to cut costs, the manual and new tech-tree chart are both on the CD in PDF format. I'm the kind of guy that likes to flip through a hardcopy.

Yeah, I haven't even looked at the manual yet -- and I look at the AC tech tree all the time. I guess I'll have to print the thing out at some point, else I'll *never* read it.

So you guys DO look at that stuff? I mean, I just had a look at the info screen when you select your faction, maybe the datalinks...but the manual or even a "tech-tree", come on, wussies, thats not the way we do business here..;)

much quieter

2262- fusion power

2271- bad turn, lost omcicrom triangle to the cyborgs and they stole fusion power, they called me up and demanded a base i caputred so i gave them it for a truce (no use i disbanded 3 garrisons and 1 was destroyed, stole a tech from the base near it though)

2274- first satalite launched

2279- aki elected governer (20 votes away from being second!) salvige unity core

2281- finshed xenoempathy dome, same and quit

sooo much better without an event every turn

Wow, you Mac folks don't get a manual or a tech tree poster? That bites. But If I may toot my own horn, check out this version of the tech tree that I made. It lists all the techs, shows all the development paths, and lists almost everything that comes with each tech (things like "probe team base morale boosted" aren't on there, but they're not on the poster either). But the best thing about it is that it fits on one page! You can print it out and everything, assuming that Mac versions of Word will read a PC Word-generated document. There are even separate versions for SMAC and SMAX. The lovely and generous Alinestra Covelia has posted them here:
http://www.enixine.dabsol.co.uk/SMAC.html

Well, sorry to interrupt the unfolding saga with this mini-advert, but I thought y'alls might like the opportunity to see the whole tech tree at a glance.
