Do you have the answer how to destroy not to conquer a city quikly? I tried with bombarding but this takes time. I've another question. Is it right that the system crasches when trying to destroy a field-modernisation which is on free land and not within an border? Or is this only on my system?! |

(1) You cannot destroy your own city quickly, although you might use eco-rangers to destroy an enemy city. You can, however, modify the maximum size city which can be disbanded. (I don't know what file this is in, sorry.) Or you could simply starve the city (turn all worker to specialists), then disband it when it reaches size three. Remember to sell off improvements each turn!(2) I had the same problem destroying unaligned tile improvements that you had. It seems to be a silly oversight on the part of ActiVision.

There are two settings in the file const.txt located in your ctp2_data\default\gamedata\ folder. You can increase the max size to disband a city, or you can increase the chances that bombarding will kill a population.in const.txt ~ line 276 BOMBARD_KILL_POP_CHANCE 0.1 ~ line 288 MAX_DISBAND_SIZE 3 I personally just like to increase the disband size. I hate conquering nations that put their cities too damn close together and I hate even more the time it takes to knock it down to a size of 3 before I can take it and destroy it. I suggest something around 10 is good. |

Sorry Didymus but I thing you got it wrong. I don't want to destroy my own city it is the other nation city I want to destroy quickly.Jerk you are absolutely right! If you want to do it the fun way build 2 stacks of 12 artillery each and bombard the hell out of the city.If it's not quick enough then build more stacks. might not be efficient play but it sure as hell is fun. |

Note that you can only disband cities of size 3 or lower.Don't know if this works, but if a city is bigger than 3, say 10, then building 7 settlers should bring the pop size back to 3. You can disband the settlers individually, and then the city. Of course, you'll have to stop the pop from growing, so sell all the buildings (esp. those that increase food, and stop starvation). Then rush buy. It's quick (in this case shouldn't take more than 7 turns), but not cheap. ------------------ Nostalgia isn't what it used to be |

"Is that a plane?"Iīm new to CTP2, and in my first game - while "testing" almost all the features - I discovered that three nukes are enough for a size 27 city. I didnīt research the eco-ranger, at that time... (What? No air-attack sirens?) :-)

Sometimes I've used a stack of 12 battleships and one with 12 stealth bombers (plus carriers).. and then bombard the hell out of them. But of course your nation must be pretty big to handle this kind of resource usage. Fred |

I just finished a game where i had to disband over 30 cities. The routine became. Move all workers to work or science specialists. Depending on how much money or obsolete units you have available. If you have money or a lot of obsolete units....move them to science and take the research. If not, move them to work specials to get the ball rolling. Build settler. When complete, disband army. That gets you halfway to a new settler. about 2775 to rush buy rest of it. or disbanding an obsolete unit reduces it further. An infantry or spy makes it free. Repeat. Repeat etc. If you sell off all the buildings you can recoup part of it. If the city produces big time, and it can produce a settler every four turns, by disbanding you reduce ever other turn. Eventually pop reduction results from starving will help you out, but nowhere near fast enough. Anything under size 16, I disbanded. (except my capital ) Boring boring boring. RAH

Just another strategy that I use. You just give the city that you need to disband to your enemy for free (pure AI, doesn't know that free cheese exist only in mousetraps ) and then recapture it. When you recapture a city it decreases it size by one. Repeat until it reaches level 3 and then disband. |
