I own 2 computers at home and have them networked. My wife and I like to play CTP, but we cant seem to finish a single game, because the game will dump us from time to time. It starts during the modern age, and once it dumps, if u have autosave on and u try to go back, it dumps in the same place. Same if u save right before the dump. The only way to keep going is by going back about 10 turns and then sometimes it will let u pass the point of the dump. The farthest we can get is 1275 AD. The dump is some sort of stack dump, with lots of numbers . The game is huge map,8 civs. and we host on my computer, which is a p3 450 with 224 mgs ram. Can anyone help? |

Have you report the error to Activision? I just send one to them. You should too so they might look in to the problem.I received this error message CTP2 caused an invalid page fault in module CTP2.EXE at 017f:00442707. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=017f EIP=00442707 EFLGS=00010246 EBX=40000026 SS=0187 ESP=00d4fc60 EBP=00d4fcb0 ECX=0366afb8 DS=0187 ESI=0366afb8 FS=1847 EDX=06a4cad0 ES=0187 EDI=06a4cb60 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 88 a8 03 00 00 85 c9 74 04 33 c0 5e c3 a1 e0 Stack dump: 06ceaa80 00634fbe 06a4cb60 00000000 40000026 00e17e10 06b6e9a0 00d4fc8c 004d0d2d 00d4fca8 00d4fcac 00d4fcb0 0048f849 00d4fca8 00d4fcac 0625e00c |

This looks like the same problem as crash on end-of-turn. Activision told me to run DXDIAG.EXE from the RUN option of the start menu. Have you done that? Look for any Beta release drivers, or registry errors. I've been working on cleaning mine up. I still have one I'm trying to get rid of.Let me know if you find something and CTP II starts working for you. Thanks, CTP addict quote:

this is what i am getting and it looks very similar, except mine is doing this while taking the computer civ's turn. Again, once this happens i can no longer play the game, unless i go back like 10-15 turns. But it continues to happen in different points of the game. So there is no point. CTP2 caused an invalid page fault in module CTP2.EXE at 016f:00442707. Well i got my reply. Activision said to make sure I had latest video and sound card drivers. (I dont, but I dont think thats the cause, I have used 2 different vid cards and still get the same problem.) But, I suppose it wont hurt to try.2nd, they said to make sure color palette was set to High Color 16 bit. They said if its in true color or others, some games may freeze.(?) 3rd, they said to shutdown all programs running via Ctrl-Alt-Delete (end task) with the exception of systray and explorer. I'll try and see if it works, but im not to optimistic. |

Well, I think it is a standard reply. It is just too annoy problem, I don't belive that the only way to fix is to get the latest driver. I am gettig a Geforce 2 MX this weekend. I will do clean windows install and see if the problem has gone away. I will get the latest driver as they asks me to. Will see about that. |
