I haven't looked into all the options in the game so there is probably a simple solution to this. Just when you send your units off on a journey, they happily start moving, then you hit next turn and they continue moving and then it automatically goes to the next turn. This is great but sometimes you spot an enemy in your terrority and decide to react but you got all these units already moving and the turns go by without you being able to do anything. Is there no key you press to stop units from moving? It's most annoying when you just click on a city or something and the game then starts selecting another unit and decides to move him around. Also is there an option later on when you 50 units or so moving around that you don't have to watch what they're up to? Cheers in advance.

The option you're looking for is in Gameplay, and you wnat to turn off either AutoCycle Units (or something like that) and also AutoCylcle Turns.

These options are really handy for the first few hundred years, when waiting for a warrior to build, but then it's best to turn them off.

From your subject line, at first I thought you were complaining that your military units lost all discipline and started dancing like crazy.
