I played two games of CTP II and am bored speechless. The turns are tedious to manage, the AI is uninspiring (where are the AI alliances that made SMAC great), you can't place workers as in the original version, and the wonder movies are tiny, short blurbs. I do like the unit graphics, but thats about it. I'm back playing Alien Crossfire and found it a much better game to play. Thanks to the SMAC board, I've solved the nagging bug that occured during air warfare late in the game. As for my copy of CTP II, you can look for it on Ebay very soon. |

 | care to explain that a bit more? in my copy, turns dont need managing, the end by themselves Mark, I found it necessary to keep track of cities about to complete production each turn as the game doesn't bring you to the city manager's screen at the beginning of a turn as in SMAC. Oh sure, I could click on turn info at bottom right which would bring up another screen in upper left which you'd then have to click the magic eye to get to the city manager. You needed to access several screens to check your units, production, empire stats, etc. Most of that was available on one screen in SMAC. The word I'm searching for is TEDIOUS. quote:

 | (for the millionth time) you dont need to[/quote] So tell me, have you ever wanted to maximize a city toward production or growth without losing any worker benefits? In the first CTP, you could do that by placing workers on specific tiles that maximized those benefits. In CTP II, specialists lost their production if placed as farmers and vica vesa. Also, by averaging the benefit of all tiles in this version, you might pick-up undesirable tiles like glaciers which have no benefit. Hope this answers your questions. I'm not promoting SMAC, just it's features that make it easier to play than CTP II.

 | if you dont have mayors and always keep one thing in the queue and have auto-units turned on, then the cities who end their production will have empty queues, and you'll get to them at the end of the turn after you hvae moved your units then with a double click on the city you can get into the city screen, or with a right click you go to the build manager quote:

 | yes, but in ctp1(and civ2/smac) if you move a worker to a mountain tile to increase production you often have to move him off a plains tile, losing food the same thing isnt it? quote:

 | in civ2/smac/ctp1 you would also have no benefits from these tiles in the long run |

They have an un-written code of what is ok and not ok to talk about! Heh Heh Heh It just absolutley kills me laughing about what is and isn't sacred to a particular forum. I used to be a Police Office..twenty years ago..and the one call I dreaded most was domestic dispute..You know..1 family member beats the mess out of another family member, someone calls police, I show up, and next thing I am the heavy! Well these forums are kinda like this old buddy!..You got to watch which thing you say, maybe ok today but not tommorrow.. I agree with free speech, but unfortunaley, I have learned in these forums, some humor, some flaming, and most assuradely all ANTI-CTP:2 remarks wiill get you chastised, UNLESS you are a regular..Hmm..seems to be a wee bit wrong, but that is the way it is... Best of luck to you and future posts... Brother Bruce
