I'm just begginning my first civilisation (very hard game). But I am not to impressed by it. Is there any way of changing where your pop works manually (like in all the civ games and ctp1)?

No, thats one of the things they left out.

Actually, once you get playing, you realize how you really don't need it. I was a little concerned, but then I went back and played around with Civ and found it to be a bit of a drag, especially when someone would walk through my city and move all my peons around.

Its really not too bad.
