My CtP2 CD will not run using my default CD drive. I have to put in my external CD burner in order for it to be recognised as a CD!

Is there anywhere where I can get a crack that will allow me to use CtP2 without the CD?

Yup, that's the problem with it. You can't use the patch with it.

Just be patient. Those hackers need some time to make new cracks for patches. If you wait a bit there will probably be a crack for CTP2 1.1.
