I have an overclocked 233MMX (runs at 262) and 128 Megs of RAM. So far (3 games and counting) CTP II runs fine. The only slow downs I've seen is a slight delay during some unit animations and sometimes when moving the map the redraw takes a millisecond longer than it probably would on a more modern system.
PS: Waiting to play a few more games before I review it. Preliminary report is that I feel it is not as immersive as Civ 2 but my mind is open.

Just an update. I have been only playing my games on a normal sized map with at most 6 civs. I have been told the game MAY slow down with a bigger map. I'll have to try this on my next game.
Addenum to system for Darkknight: I think my video card only has 4 megs of mem (Matrox Mystique)so you might still be ok. I don't know how much of a difference video memory makes to the speed of a system though.
