Not to mention it was unmoderated. I quit a long time ago (to take combat) and JT3 disappeared. |

This is short:Special Ability: Hometown unit. As some may recall, in the Vietnam War, a special helicopter rescue unit was formed from GI's all from the same town. It was done to boost moral in the unit. Unfortunately the helicopter they were flying in was shot down. The town that they came from suffered a huge loss. Most young men ages 18-22 were killed in this single tragedy. I propose to add this to the list: A special ability (named above) that would boost the moral of the unit by 1 or 2 points. However, if this unit were to die or be destroyed, the city that the unit was made in would immediately go into unhappiness. I think that this added unit ability would be well balanced and interesting to use. -Parker |

Don't we already have this in Civ? Except the city is unhappy when their away and rejoice when they return or die....------------------ "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent." -Qui-Gon Jinn |

I'm not sure why this thread is seperated from combat (o.k. I guess I understand). But in any case I posted a message there suggesting a slight departure from the traditional "hundreds of units running around like chickens without heads constitute an army" approach which happens in the later eras of the old civ games.Instead I would like to see armies which focus on deploying a specific array of "unit" types and numbers to locations around the globe in response to changing conditions. Look at combat for more info, but feel free to responde as to how you think it impacts units here. |

This was also posted in the "[url=http://www.firaxis.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000196.html]General[url]" forumThink if instead of a city building just one unit, it diverted a percentage of shields into military production. Then when you wanted to builsd a unit you would use one city to tap into the "Shield budget" to build the unit. In addition my "Hometown unit" idea would fit into this by not aloowing this to happen but to let a single city build the unit the "classic" way. -Parker |
