I know this is a really cheap strategy, but if you really like to have a nice, long time boefore you even have to think about fighting a war, play as the Americans on the large world map with the choose AI civilizations option and make sure no one is the Sioux or Aztecs. |

That's why the game offers the options to achieve that position. It's called isolationism. It's a perfectly legitimate approach to the game. If a tad on the dull side.  ------------------

Not only the result is impressive.
There is also a good quantity of 'Slow Thinking' about how to get good results playing SP.
