Topic: An alliance hypthesis |  |

As most of you must have noticed, when you are in alliance with another civ and you try to enter one of their cities with one of your units you get the message: «the /indians-or whatever/ helped repair our /archers-or whatever/».Now I've never had a damaged unit go in their cities so is the repair COMPLETE? If so, you could have a huge advantage if you are at war with another civ, have an alliance city next to the battlefield and repair all your units in a single turn?

No, it is not nearly complete. I just tested it out in a quick game, a tank had 29/30 of its hit points gone. I marched it in for repairs and the bar was still deep in the red. |

When I go for AC I allways try to stay in alliance with the AI. This way I can "request a gift from you, our gracious allies" and get money from the other civs when I`m in republic or democracy

If the french is not already dead (I usually try to keep him alive) i invade 2-3 cities, usually the biggest ones, here's the best way to make money, ... , by crushing the french |

I'm not quite ready for "The Wall" at Avoriaz yet - - although, the way I was carving the turns in Murren, I might just get brave enough one day.Hope La Fayette isn't paying too close attention, but the reputation of the French tribe in Civ circles isn't the best. They seem to go in for sneak attacks more than anyone else and rival the bloody Mongols as irritating neighbours. But then I suppose that is a sort of backhanded compliment in a way. The English don't seem to have much of a civic reputation. Insipid crew. And I suppose you have to customise if you want to give the famous Swiss Guard an outing. Edit. Forgot to say, I'm a Londoner. So if you're in town and want some company, a bridge partner, use of a bed for the night, or a recommendation for a show or a restaurant let me know.

Oh, cool, I've been 4 times in London since 1998, I love this city....Anyway, in fact, I need your help for something else. I want to go in London to see a premiership game, but it seems to be impossible to get tickets for non-members (of the host club...). Maybe you know a way to get some, or maybe you're a member of some London football team. That would be great ... btw, do you mean Chavannette by the Wall?!?

By the way the first time I got to London EST, I became immediatly depressed! Guess it was the weather (very different from Greece) and the brown color that dominated the buildings next to the train station (In Greece you get three flavors -concrete cement depressive damn grey for Athens - white for islands and neoclassic light colors for everywhere). Then I checked the rock'n'roll concerts for the next 5 days in London and I immediatly got so happy  London is the place to be, a metropolis of events. I think I only got 10 hours of sleep for 5 days there! |

I would have to say no,only a small portion of your unit is repaired. An alliance in war can be useful. You could use an alliance city to screen your unit by putting it behind the zone of control of the city. Of course this will not help against an air unit. I believe the alliance repair is slightly more effective then having your unit rest that turn. I also love London, although I havn't been there in some time, as my reletives live in Manchester.

I've never been to Sicily so I can't verify it. But I've never heard that their were similarities between the two except for the peculiar greek - origin minority that resides there. Actually there can be no SINGLE description of how greek architecture is like because it differs hugely between regions. Athens is utterly destroyed by the anarchistic and rush way by which it was built to accomodate 5 million where original planning was only for 500.000... Only the old city holds some of its retro charm and the Acropolis still stands so there may still be some reason to visit. There is a movement to build more neoclassical buildings which are beautiful but either there is no more space or you have to destroy and rebuild which is very expensive. But the other regions are so different you can't actually offer a general description. Aegean, Ionion, Attika, Peloponese, Macedonia and Ipirus have all there peculiar architectural motives with the unifying aspect being the neoclassical movement. (which itself is rather old) | |
