Does terrain count when determining aerial battles? I've had a few full-health Stealth Fighters lose when attacking Bombers, so I was wondering whether or not this was the case. |

My (painful) experience indicates that terrain does not influence dogfights. But I am not 100% sure. |

I really, really, doubt it. Someone with the manual should be able to figure it out. |

Hey I got the manual. It doesn't say anything (unless I've missed something) |

Alinestra Covelia, et al.:Logically, terrain shouldn't affect dogfights. IMHO, though, I think it does. Why? Because I invariably have an easier time bringing down bombers, stealth bombers and fighters over plains, grasslands, rivers and forests than I do over hills and mountains ... particularly so if there's a fortress the aircraft are "occupying." Yes, the defender's terrain does count for aerial battles, irregardless of the defender's domain type: land, sea, or air. It's hard to tell in a regular game but in some scenarios I've played, it becomes obvious. The bad news is that the AI only seems to understand terrain advantge for land units. For example, although the AI always chooses the shortest route, it seems smart enough to move a land unit to the terrain with the best defense, given a choice. AI air units, on the other hand, seem to pay no attention at all to terrain. |

Yeah... it does come into play. If you want to prove it to yourself... just use the cheat menu and try attacking bombers on different terrain with the same type of aircraft. It will become painfully obvious that it does play a significant factor |
