HelloHow much tech do you usually get with deity in every possible way (develop, exhange, find, steal, GL, tribute, philosophy extra-advance) until 1 AD? My record is 22 if I a remember correctly, 18 is normal, 14 satisfactory. Kristjan |

In my last game (which was my best result, though not necessarily the most techs by a given date) I had 20. |

Interesting question that I have never previously contemplated: choosing two games on my HDD at 'random' ICS on Giga map 22 techs OCC #21 - no huts, no AI 9 techs I have no concept of what a 'record' might be, but it is unlikely that I can beat the goblins ... way to go Rib! ------------------ ____________ Scouse Git[1] "CARTAGO DELENDA EST" - Cato the Censor "The Great Library must be built!" SG, I had 10 in OCC#21, but OCC#22 is bound to provide new records (not a fair comparison of course, but still ).------------------ If you have no feet, don't walk on fire [This message has been edited by Ribannah (edited January 11, 2001).] |

How do you do that, Rib? Xin Yu cities, and SCC-caravans to other civs? I only play conquest these days - I guess an AC-strategy would give more techs. [This message has been edited by Lars-E (edited January 11, 2001).] |

Deity- Between 12 and 35, depending upon how intent you are to rack up techs.Really, one should pick a course of action and take those tech, ignoring the rest. IF you find yourself with a couple nearby neighbors and you end up with Monotheism before they get Writing, take after them and kill them with Crusaders. Use the techs you turn up in huts and make them your guiding course. Sometimes you find yourself a trade driven Republic that takes in 300 gold per turn by 350 AD. Sometimes your a mad tyrant stealing and conquering every square foot of the earth, this because you got Mono or Chivary and decided not to waste the technology. Mind you, this is only on SP. MP is different. ------------------ "Every time I hear the name "Sergent Sheets" I picture a blanket with portraits of Patton, Einsenhower, MacArthur, and other WWII leaders." The Brain "One is never too old to die young." Sgt. Sheets "The only thing greater than the United State of America is you." FREE YYYH and Stewart Spink We shall never forget!! |

In my latest game I got six free techs, which is probably two more than I'd ever gotten before, and wound up with 25 total by 1 AD, almost certainly a personal best. |

That sounds a bit unusual. I suspect the magic reload key.The old trick was to hut hunt, keeping your science at zero. So when you got philosophy you wouldn't get your freebie then. Reset on huts so you wouldn't get invention too early. Get all the prereqs for demo, get invention, turn on your science % and get to select demo as the freebie. Other that a similar technique, I find this hard to believe. Please let us know the methodology you used, I'd be very interested. RAH |

Yes Rah, that's the way, and playing on a giga map makes it real easy, no reloads were necessary (except for a few thousand times Veii - it's OCC#23, variation 1).I also used another old trick (see Solo's description) to delay the discovery of Invention. ------------------ If you have no feet, don't walk on fire |

In my recent game I had ZERO techs by 1AD (except roads, mining and irrigation of course) I was trying the 'Wait for Jesus'-challenge where you put your two settlers to sleep until 1AD and then build your first city! Btw, it's a very fun challenge and not so difficult as one might think.. those AI civs are VERY sympathetic for your pathetic state and are very generous at giving out their techs. With ICS strat I reached supreme at 1800AD and are heading to conquer the whole world! [This message has been edited by Marko_Polo (edited February 26, 2001).] | |
