I had the most pleasant thing happen the other night.I was playing an ICS game when the Russians approached me for talks. They asked for peace and I said "No, your terms are unacceptable!". Voila! They offered 1300 gold as an inducement to sign a peace treaty! How could I say no???  Then, when we were just about to end the conversation, I demanded tribute and shazaam!!! Another 700 gold!!!  Anybody ever top this in one turn??? ------------------

Not quite. I was once playing at EMperor. The Celts attacked me from the other side of a large ocean (They had the Lighthouse, I was still on Triremes). I managed to kill all their units, and then they sued for peace. They offered me 1948 gold, leaving themselves just 2 gold in the kitty.I assumed they must be really weak, but I ended up having to spy-nuke their capital to ground their spaceship! |

once, i was fighting... it was the romans or something i think. well, when they asked for peace, i said no, so they offered me like 2000 gold, so i stopped the war. then they asked to sign a peace treaty, i said no, so they threw in another 1500. when i demanded tribute, they gave me like 750 gold. not bad eh? |

LOL! I used to be in this predicament. The difference IMHO is when you switch to hardcore ICS. ------------------
