OK I haven't passed through the whole list but there is one thing I've noticed :no one does seem to know the Airfield cheat . I dunno , maybe I am using an old version or something or maybe it's common knowledge but: if you build Airfields over mined hills it gives you both the advantage of the mining and it also gives you farmland (well you dont see it but try to work that tile with a city ; look at the output : 4 shield 3 food.) am I the naive guy who's just discovered this ?

Ming: he mentioned that he could not host. Here's what I feel to be a possible reason: The map must be round and of a certain size that near the edge (0 column) of the map two huts occupy the same position (just like two cities share one square). When your unit enters the square one of the huts is opened but another is still there. As far as you don't move the unit out, next time when another unit enters the square the first hut get opened again so you have unlimited huts. Drinking too much.... |

Well done Ming !!!I don't think this is a cheat, simply a design program flaw - if you build 2 cities on either side of the 0° meridian, they will both benifit from overlapping city radius squares at the same time. Most randomly generated maps have only open ocean on the 0° meridian. |

I've made a copy of my Cheat thread that was in the Civ 3 section. It seems appropriate to also have it here for the Great Library Project. Plus, maybe some people haven't seen it yet.I only want to revise it one more time... so if you have a "few" minutes, read through it and see what cheats haven't been added. Your help would be appreciated... Thanks! |

I'm not altogether sure this is the correct place to post this, but I've experienced a bug which allows a considerable amount of cheating. When I was playing IP over a LAN, every so often, after a game was started or loaded, the cheat menu would be active. There was never a sign on the score about this, not even the scenario sign as the scenario editor stayed inactive. I couldn't even deactivate it, because that field in the cheat menu is greyed out in MP. Nice little irony, eh?This is in the Ultimate Classic Collection, with all the bells and whistles, so I presume it was never fixed. It rather spoiled the IP games I had going, and contributed to my subsequent lapse in Civing.. very annoying, all in all.

Has anybody else run across this one? I've never seen that one before... and that would take the fun out of the game... |

I've only seen this happen in one game, so I don't know if you guys will be all that interested, but I built two cities in one turn with two engineers, then still had both the engineers available to move on the next turn.Tiz |

Yeah... A lot of people have run across some strange one time events while playing Civ... If an action can be duplicated or repeated by anybody, then it should be added to the list. So, If anybody else has seen the event of having the engineer/settler survive after starting a city, lets try to track down what events are needed to duplicate this event. |

I don't know if this is the place to post this, but I found an interesting cheat in ToT. I had installed it and started a game. I then installed the (upgrade? patch?) and reloaded the game. To my surprise, I could then research Ultrastring Theory. I did so, and soon had Colonists on Alpha Centauri. This was before the discovery of Gunpowder. I then researched my way to Genetic Engineering as quickly as possible. This gave me overwhelmingly superior units for the next few millennia. (The computer players also researched Ultrastring Theory at the same time and founded a few cities on Alpha Centauri, but they didn't have the foresight to direct their research like I did.)Murgatroyd ------------------ I am collecting information about deleted threads. Apropos of the last few posts:I recently encountered this settler/city anomoly. I've only seen it the one time, and I've not tried to reproduce the results, but if anyone has the inclination to try to pin this down, here's what happened. In a multiplayer game, I was trying to found a city, with a settler, on a mountain square. I pressed the "B" button to found the city and waited. There's usually a couple second wait while the city is founded, but this time the "lag" turned out to be a complete disconnection from the host. I notified the host that I had "hung up", and was instructed to hot join. Upon re-entering the game, I was met with a new city, PLUS my settler was in the city. (An additional note: I believe I already had an archer fortified on the mountain square, as well.) I have no idea which of the above conditions is relevant. Nor do I have the patience to try and find out. Knock your socks off, people. |

Here are my "cheats". You can also call it tactics :
- If it is impossible for your troop (by ZOC) to move in a certain direction, the games shows you all troops that makes the move impossible on the map. Even cities will be shown!
That means: You have a AI troop standing adjunct you. Try to move to a place that is also on it's neighborhood. If there is a second troop, that stand adjunct this second place, it will pop up on screen. Even out of the black. Also you can see the terrain, where it stands on. Same with cities. - One thing that was changed from civ1 to civ2, that I don't like (all these other changes I really like
), is, if you unload the troops out of a ship they lost only 1 move for that. Therefore you can use the 2nd move, say of a Dragoon, to attack a city. This makes them even more powerful than the marines, which was, IMHO, constructed for shore attack. More, because on that way you also able to attack cities that aren't at shore's, but even one square behind them. In civ1 it was a great challenge for me to establishing a "bridgehead" on a new country (D-Day like). In addition with this possibility barbarians/raiders with dragoons on boards was a danger, that can't be avoid. (Strange thing I saw one time, maybe a program error: I've got raiders spring out of a little see (one ocean square surrounded completely with land terrain) right in the middle of my thick continent: That can't performed by any AI opponent! )
