I think i have an idea. I am tired of looking for civ strategy and finding nothing. Why dont we form some kind of committee that researches strategy for civ II, and meets at this forum to disscuss possible new strategies? |

The thing is, several of the best players have been posting here for a year and a half. Most real, deep strategy has discussed to death, probably several times. It gets boring talking about the same thing again and again, so don't expect a daily thesis on the best ways to win the game. I would suggest a walk throught the archives. |

Yes, but I think his idea could be helpful, but then some of us would have to give away some of our best tricks |

I nominate Somgu to collate all the collected threads from here and the archives and present them in a concise, well organized format for a starting point to discussions on REAL strategy. do we have a second?? |

A second second. However Somgu would not have that much to do if he could give CR a hand with the document conversions in the converging thread ../../Forum3/HTML/001343.html Edit: Corrected Somgu spelling [This message has been edited by tonic (edited August 15, 2000).] |

Ok,Ok. I'll do it. Ill try to collect as much stuff from this forum as posible and put it in one thread, or maybe a few. But I just started school, so it will be more difficult than it would be in the summer. |

Just giving you a hard time. It would make sense to compile some of the collected wisdom into a word document, but maybe we just set out to write a guide from scratch instead of copy and pasting threads. If we just used raw threads it might be 5,000 pages long!! A sticky thread would need to be short or it would clog up the forum speed... |

HEY... You are stealing my best lines Just use the search feature on the strategy section, or the strategy archive to find what you need. It would be way to much work to pull together the years of discussions that many of us have had. |

If only the Archives were a bit more fool-proof to use (cf the explication by Markos in the Apolyton forum). I recall problems accessing some of the pioneering work with listing threads in themes (Theben comes to mind, among others) - many of the links don't work. |

It wouldn't just be copying and pasting threads one after another. That is only the raw data which has to be commented, supplemented and edited in all sorts of ways.Question is, will such a strategy guide be of any use when Civ III is that close? Carolus |

I have a gut feeling that there will be a few civ2 die-hards left who will be finding new challenges well into the Civ III era. Seeing that there is still a sentimental attachment to Civ I, the systematic compilation would at worst stand as a work of some historical significance. In any case how imminent is the new release? |

Long way away yet.And if its no good(50/50 chance at best based on other trys)then Civ2 will continue. It may be impossible to improve on without losing mass-market appeal.Civ 2 may never die. |
