OCC-win by spaceship only ever having 1 cityBC Bloodlust-Small random map, raging hoardes,7 civs,no restart for eliminated civs.Conquer ASAP aiming for a BC finish. Cold Wizard's nomad challenge-small random map, raging hoardes,7 civs.Win the game but you cannot build any cities.Only capture or advanced tribes. Kahnman's variation-same as above but played on a large map. Ming and Rah's variation on variation.NO advanced tribes allowed. This is pretty tough. WW2 challenge-win the WW2 scenario that comes with the game as Spain. No time limit just win with Spain. This one is a little insane challenge-build your civ up to the supreme power then "build down" until you disband your last city. thats a few. |

Hmmm...KhanMan's (not kahn! :P) Adjunct to the Ming-RAH alternative to the modified ColdWizardian Nomads Challenge: Required settings: Bloodlust Large World 7 civs Raging Hordes yes on restart tech paradigm at double tech rate no advanced tribes KhanMan's "City of Wonders": You must build a city with every single wonder in it. You may play OCC or other strategies, but all wonders must be in one city. Deity, 7 civs, large map, raging hordes (and, before you ask, you can't say "most, half of, or some wonders"...whimps! :P ) -KhanMan the LLSS |

KhanMan, I know that you may consider this self-envident, but for the super wonder city challange I don't have to survive for a set time beyound building the final wonder, other than the end of the turn of course? I assume that you expect the last wonder to be completed prior to 2020A.D., correct?Ken |

Well, I assume that you can survive indefinately, if you can build all wonders in one city. You can win through conquest or AC, or just survive. Personally, it's just the challenge of beating the computer in every wonder race, in one city, that I was interested in. -KhanMan |

Builder-Is that the "you can't build wonders but the ai can" version, or the "DaveV's city with all wonders destroyed prior to your first turn" version, or another one? -KhanMan |

Here's one suggested by GP.Hit space bar and do nothing at all for as long as you dare. Then play it out the normal way, AC or bloodlust. Winner: the one who started the latest. A lighter version: hut popping and exploring with your two settlers allowed instead of doing nothing. Then settle down as late as possible and play it out as above. Another challenge is the despotism challenge: Stay in despotism the whole game and go for AC. Carolus |

No trade? No problem for a dedicated sleazer. I'd rather build cities or military units than trade carvans. I do use caravans for wonder building, so make it "no caravans", and it becomes a little more difficult... |

seems like no trade would fall under the challenge vik set forth with conquering with 0 cities. If you don't build any cities, you can't very well establish any trade routes For that matter you can't even buy any caravans since I've never seen a caravan or a diplomat come from a tipped hut Seems like any en masse stratagy would work with no trade, since the goal is to overwhelm with numbers rather than out-tech someone. (ICS, early bloodlust etc) |

I tried this one. I played on Diety, Large Map, raging hoards, etc. I decided to play OCC. I started my city in 25ad. My NON army at the time consisted of two settlers, one legion, and one horseman. I had Bronze working, Ceremonial burial, masonry, and horseback riding, and about 625 gold. I was able to complete Shake's, Isaac Newton's, Darwin's, the UN, and Apollo. For the heck of it, I also built the Manhatten project, but that was probably a mistake. It's about 1970 or so and I'm building my spaceship. I'll definitely finish before 2020, but I probably won't be the first one to AC. Bottom line: It's a pretty fun challenge.

Cool! Some time ago I tried to come up with a two-stage OCC and a way to compare the results. The idea was to first play OCC and then conquer the world as fast as possible. Since OCC and early conquest are biased towards certain styles of play, that way both space men and bloodlust men could compete. It didn't catch on, maybe it will this time? I'll see if I can find the thread. Carolus |

I think the no-wonder challenge would be a great way to prepare for MP (maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to have the time...). Question is - are you allowed to capture AI built wonders? Or are there really 2 different challenges - the "build no wonder" and the "never have any wonders"? The latter would be a real challenge because you'd have to wait for the AI to build Apollo, or destroy (not just capture) every AI city that had a wonder in it. |
