Well i know it's not a record, but 25bc is also bc If Germans were not so well hidden,i could made it about 300 bc. They were blocked by massive hill chain and my vet knights were slowed down I've made few mistakes as well. Last time i checked, record was 175bc. Is that still stays? If so...i believe i could beat it very soon. |

It was standard random generated small map, deity, raging hordes,7 civs,'don't restart eliminated civ'. And i had no luck or help, which means i exterminated all 6 civs myself. Tech path was standard...Hbr-Cer-Alph-CoL-Mon-WC-Feud-Wri-Chivalry-KILL 'EM ALL. I've build no improvements at all. Only STWA. As soon as Academy was finished i already had alot of almost finished settlers which i immediatelly switched into knights. I lost my 6th city to barbs, and made 2 big mistakes (#1 lost a city to AI. i left it undefeded, but i forgot about enemy phalanx next to it. #2 lost 3 vet knights to germans, cuz i didn't make offered case fire ) I did incremental rush-buying. |

Thats impressive. Its hard to get to them all that fast. What did you face?Mostly phalanx?Any walls? did you have 1 continent or did you have to build boats at some point? |

Only 2 walled cities. 1st costed me 2 diplos to get them down. 2nd was German capital. I had 3 knights in the reach and year was 25bc so i took my chances. Lucky 4 me,city has only 2 warriors in it. It was one big continent w/o much water.I think i have an idea how to improve that result. Record will fall soon. |

I tryed it but at 50 BC I still had 2 civs with 7 cities left. You really gotta get 1 landmass. It adds many turns when your marching army hits the coast. The biggest problem was the double and triple unhappies that started to show up as my city total climbed.Even at 70% luxuries I had to hire a ton-o-Elvi.How did you deal with this problem? |

Damn, good job! On Deity even. That is awesome. I can see that I could do pretty well with this challenge on King, maybe, but Deity sounds impossible. I've tried speed conquest before, but never seem to finish any of those games. I'll have to give it another try. |

I had 12 cities before i finished STWA and my luxury rate was 0% during a whole game. 3 units per city (warriors, pikemen) solved unhappines problems in the beginning. Later i used entertainers. I also had about 10 settlers which i used to make roads to connect my cities. I faced mostly phalanx and some warriors. None of them are match for vet knights. I lost 1 settler,2 horsemen,1 charriot and 8 knights(3 by my own fault). I didn't get much tribute (about 500 gold total) because i broke every treaty i made Problem is that STWA comes too late for my taste. Next time i'll try to build few barracks and some vet Elephants so i could go conquering much earlier. In that game i didn't micromanage so i had alot of disorders and waste of food/trade/shields. I truly believe i could make it before 175bc which is offical record so far. |

I made it again. 75bc w/o free techs on start. Some tips if someone want to try...-6 cities is enough -build your cities on high shields squares -don't break treaties before you get STWA because of tribute -don't waste your time restarting a game to get free techs on beginning (clean start=good land) -when you pick chivalry as your next tech, minimize science rate (by the time you have enough money to rush STWA,you'll get chivalry with 30% science) -don't ask for tribute if AI offers you tech exchange you don't need -you must have at least 4 horsemen for hut chase and search for AI Next time am gonna try it w/o Sun-Tzu. |
