What I'm talking about is your name, when you post, would instead say something like:Your_Handle Clash of Civilizations Military/Combat Model FE see mine at the left. The second line will be the same for everyone.
If you do a lot of things please trim a title to whatever you prefer that is at most 20 characters or so. Markos (MarkG) has kindly extended to us the same perks that the guys from Firaxis and Activision get in affiliation naming. Thanks Markos / Dan -Mark [This message has been edited by Mark_Everson (edited June 07, 1999).] |

Hm..."Duke of Delusion"? "Earl of Eloquence"? "Baron of Balance"? Ermmmm.... "Master of Magic"? (Pretty please)
No, wait: Wizard of the Web! Btw: Don't you have the feeling, too, that the word "Duke" alone, ridiculous as it might be in this context, does in fact add to our own game atmosphere here?

Dominique:I think Duke of Delusion says it all... I guess 'Wizard of the Web' is ok, although we American types prefer the quicker-hitting 'Web Wizard'. (Attention spans not long enough to cope with all those extra words ) I think that Duke has the advantage of being shorter to type than coordinator! Otherwise I'm largely immune to such symbolism . |

Mark, you want to do an epic game? Bah! No, seriously now: I love those little quirks, and I know that many others do, as well - and most of them can be implemented far easier than a lot of "major features" our code cracks are planning. I can't stress it often enough: No one will stand up and say: "Boy, I LOVE the way the map AI is done in this game - that's why I really like playing it!". Sure, they will recognize that AI is pretty advanced, but that simply isn't the stuffe that makes you love a game. On the other hand, I still tell people (as if it had really happened) how the gargoyles in Ultima 6 spoke to me and how scared I was... So, for instantnce, I'd address the player in the manual as "Excellency" throughout.

Dom..on the other hand, I no longer play SMAC because the AI is so simple minded and ridiculously easy. So, while no one may run around praising the AI, people will "vote with their feet" if the game opponents are just stupid. |

Druid2,true, but since I really trust that every thinkable aspect of AI / military detail etc. is in good hands here (having enough "hardcore strategists" obviously), I have to put my "game atmosphere" point of view to the extreme to have a chance at all, don't I? I think we can settle with this: - good AI and functional interface make a game playable. - bells and whistles, atmosphere & the like make a game loveable. Both together make a game a success. |

To clear things out1) this is ONLY for members of the develpoment team 2) the new title MUST be the position of the member in the development, and should have a sort of "official" tone(shouldn't it?). So, no "Duke of Elington" or "Master of Web" ------------------ Markos, Apolyton Civilization Site |

Markos:We're Joking... We are, arent we? ... Somebody tell me we are ... Also a question, Markos. Sometimes my handle shows as: Clash of Civilizations Project Lead and sometimes the way it should. Is there a way to put a Line Break in there to make it always show the way I'd intended? Clash of Civilizations Project Lead The List of what I propose we use (as usual bug me if you think these aren't right): Dominique Web Master / Graphics Druid2 Military / Coding Org. manurein Social Model Blade Runner Scenarios / Mods. Hrafnkell Governments / Tech. Nobody else interested? JimC (say AI programmer), F_Smith (interface programmer)...

Ooooooooooooooch - and I just had my "God of Graphics" t-shirt printed... Alright, whatever, I don't really care. Just some "title" to show who's in charge of what. "Civer" just doesn't seem to be the right title for someone trying to beat CIV
