For instance, i would like to rename Paratroops to Rangers and Marines to SEALs...etc. How can i change these so the game will use the new names rather than the default names? Thanks for your help.....(If any....lol)

you can edit them in rules.txt or edit them with the scenario editor if you have the fantastic worlds add on. [This message has been edited by Dissident (edited March 21, 2001).] |

I tried to edit them in the Rules.txt but in the game the units kept their default names. For example, in the RULES.txt i changed Marines to SEALs. But when i got to them in the game, the game still had the unit listed as Marines. |

I just checked it and it works for me.I double clicked on rules.txt in the mps/civ2 folder. Went about halfway down to where marines are. Deleted the letters marines and changed it to rangers- then saved the file. All the new units in the game I created were listed as rangers. It is possible the old units retain their old names, I'd have to check that. [This message has been edited by Dissident (edited March 21, 2001).] |
