The reign on Zulu II began with an air of optimism. The people talked of a ruler who could chart his family back to the origional Zulu dynasty that ruled the home island at the dawn of the age of expansion. Although Zulu II was never destined to overshadow the work of his ancestors in their great wonder building feats, the reign would, in time become known as a time of great buildings. Over the next 34 years, the royal treasury would be used to construct a huge number of temples across the world, all preaching of the day when the wreched "Humans" would be wiped from their planet forever. The reign was not entirely summed up by these buildings however. The scientists of the world discovered many new concepts including the idea of huge place of learning to be known as a University, Economics, Iron Working and Bridge Building. During an expedition, the explorers wandered into a small village, only to be confronted by a small band calling themselves "Riflemen" who agreed to join the nation. The people rejoiced at having such powerful weapons in their fight against the humans and the scientists of the world began research into replicating the technology of their new recruits - Thus began research into the area of "Gunpowder" which, the Riflen said, formed the basis of their weapons |

Only short story,After a short reign of only 13 turns Thoddy must retire, due to illness. At the beginnig of my turn I saw some cities starving, because of settler support (food and shields). Keep some eyes open. My first priority was to establish more income. I rushbuild some monetary improvements and in this way our cash flow grows from expenses 107 and income 143 to 141/262. Research is 4 turns. We have now almost 10 million people in our fine Empire. Americans build Hoover Dam, someone else Bachs Cathedral. Well, it's still in Malignantx's hands. If he hasn't given us notice by Sunday, I'll skip him and play the next 15-20 turns. ------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

Yeah, that was my original motivation for reading this thread, too. But now I'd be willing to play, just to keep things going! Let me know if you need a player, guys. ------------------ Dig trenches, with our men being killed off like flies? There isn't time to dig trenches. We'll have to buy them ready made. Well, guys : I'm sorry for the delay as I am the one in charge of this Sucession Game. Malignantx has disappeared and he was at the bottom of the list, so Rufus and Thot could join now. I'm going to send Rufus the file tomorrow morning. Roman is on holiday, he will join back if the game isn't finished when he returns. Cool! Julius, send the file to johngroch@yahoo.com (why, oh why won't Apolyton accept yahoo addresses?). Am I to play 10 turns or 20? I'll play it this weekend and pass it on (please make it this weekend, though, if you can; my students begin turning in their exams on Monday).------------------ Dig trenches, with our men being killed off like flies? Game sent to Rufus. You may play between 10 and 20 turns. Good luck ! We're not in the strongest of a position. But it should be sufficient to win in the long run. Thot, can you confirm that you want to join, too ? ------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

Problems, gang. Just got the file, unzipped it, and tried to play. Instead I got this message: "Failed to load game. File in obsolete format." Any ideas about what that may mean or how to fix it? If not, i guess I have to pass, having enjoyed a brief, Al-Gore-like almost-presidency.------------------ Dig trenches, with our men being killed off like flies? There isn't time to dig trenches. Rufus, the saved game works fine for me. What version of ToT do you have. You should install my no-limits add-on (avalaible at Apolyton or that I can send to you). It could be the problem. And sorry to ask, but did you put the saved file in the extended original folder ?------------------ Oh Man, when will you understand that your greatness lies in your failure - Goethe |

I suppose you had to ask about the folder thing Julius, but no; the problem was that I had never installed patch 1.1! Having done so, I'm ready to rock (though that hardly seems the word for our current position). quote:

1851 and we're only researching magnetism? And we've got all of two wonders? Good, I am glad it works. Yeah, I had to ask for the folder. I agree with you on our difficult situation. But this is not desesperate. It's really bad about the wonders though. But we shall do some earth-shopping pretty soon. Good luck Rufus ! |
