So I feel like asking questions today; so sue me. Anyway, what moment in a game makes you pump your fist in the air and let out a mighty "Yes!"? My vote: sacking an enemy capital. It's even better than actually eliminating the enemy. If it's the capital of your most hated enemy, so much the better; if civil war results...well, you may have to pause for a smoke afterwards. ------------------ Dig trenches, with our men being killed off like flies? There isn't time to dig trenches. We'll have to buy them ready made. Here, run out and get some trenches. -- Rufus T. Firefly, the original rush-builder |

Most of my favorite moments take place in the very early game when the outcome is still in doubt. Once I've emerged on top of the power graph, I view my enemies' inevitable defeat as more of a duty to my country than a joy.1. Exploring in the opening moves of the game and finding a network of rivers with specials. 2. Beating (via rush-building) my enemies to Pyramids or Colossus after receiving the "The *****s have nearly completed the Pyramids" message. 3. Destroying an enemy civilization before 1000 BC. Even if they are not yet wicked, I know I have spared them from their inevitable turn to evil. |

Well, in a recent game, fairly early on, I had *all* of the other civilizations declare war with me and refuse to consider peace. When I got the United Nations and forced them to make peace (I was interested in peaceful expansion), I was quite happy. |

Generally, the 'thrill' for me is when the enemies take you for a weakling-and then you start to build up your power, taking town by town, and then the enemies come begging for a cease-fire-even offering money just to keep the peace for a few months. Specially when the enemies were once Super-Powers. I might alter the files so that I can say "kiss my a**" instead of "We will fight to the bitter end"."Remember Romans, it is your duty to humble the proud and give strength to the weak" ancient Roman saying. ------------------ MRP |

Rufus T. Firefly, et al.:I especially enjoy blowing enemy colony ships from Earth orbit — which usually happens after I've sacked an enemy capital and executed the leadership. I like the early turns, exploring. Similar to the Gits, I like, "Leonardo's Workshop upgrades all Settlers to Musketeers." I also enjoy making an enemy civ my *****. You know that Civ that first claims that they want peace and then start making all sorts of demands. Well, I can play that game, too. Soon that Civ is offering money for peace treaties that mean nothing to me except for the gifts. I do like that.Edit: I have been censored. I apologise. I take mine back, nothing beats the time when that irritatingly agressive civ (usually the mongols) declares war after I fail to pay them tribute or give them tech or some imagined insult (does ghengis NEED a reason?) he then ticks me off royally by wiping out a settler or two, and I retaliate by reducing a city or twothe good part comes when he comes pleading for peace and offers ME tribute for a cease fire. that's really hard to beat |

I've been playing far too much OCC lately... doing the 'we love the Consul' thing to get your little one-city republic up to 21 citizens, getting 300 gold tributes, and getting a spaceship launch before the AI comes close to starting all rate pretty highly. In general games, having your elephant-crusader horde wipe out not one, but two of your neighbours (with those cute diplomatic offering about how they'll give you all of their gold if you sign a peace agreement, just moments before you take their last city). Mwah ha ha!!! |

The perfectionist in me loves to hear "Ode to Joy" as my cities celebrate my magnificent leadership. However, I play civ to crush lowly neighbors. Nothing beats egging one on to sneak attack me, then annihilating his empire, turning a deaf ear to his groveling for a cease fire. The silly fools should have paid tribute... |

hahaha Why am I not surprised? My favorite is the moment that I finally link my rail line up to the next most powerful (or more powerful) civ's rail line. Once that occurs, a long awaited onslaught of howitzers and spies takes place and cities fall like flies. I usually try and cut a line straight down the middle and cut him off as best as possible.
Usually, it's been a costly campaign to do this, either I have to cross a vast distance unprotected, or cut through another civ to get to the one I want. So it's alot of work, but once the results pay off, oh man, do they pay off. Mess with me, will you bastard!!! But then usually the AI blasts me with like 6 nukes the next turn. I'm not a multiplayer stud like some of you guys though, so I doubt that would work there... |

Definately harassing the annoying civ on the board to declare war on me (thus keeping my rep clean) and then running them off the board... especially when they are more powerful than I am... BWA HAHAHA!... That and renaming my enemies cities with spies... you know like, "I'm toast," or "Ground Zero." ------------------ Kyrie Asini "I don't need a compass to see which way the wind is shining!"- Mystery Men |

Because the AI is soo stupid, I like to make my invasions more complecated than they really need to be. I like coordinating several invasion points, supporting with Ships and Planes, and sending cruise missles deep into the enemy's interior. I know this is really not needed, and I could do just as well with a force about ¼ the size. But the favorite moment, is the anticipation right befoe the invasion when I have set everything up just right and the decision to invade is made. This is the culmination of many plans and maneuvering, and to watch the Armada in its moment of glory is what keeps me really into this game. This is the kinda thing that makes playing as the US in WWII scenarios quite fun; having to plan an entire invasion of Europe, and bringing enough arms to guarentee a low casualty rate on my part. I liked to see the evolution of the invasion of my units across the world.I liked when IA offer me big bags of gold in order to be spared (for a time). I liked when IA started long time before me to build a Wonder and finally I managed to beat it. I liked terraform entire continent (with legions of enginners working a an colossal railroad network). I liked to contruct a railroad/harbor connection that allow an unit to go in all city in just an turn. I like to sneak into other civ territory whithout being noticed and spy them. I liked to see and hear a city be blasted by a nuke (hummm). I liked so much naval fights (IA was quite good at this I remember). |
