the 1.3 patch is for Civ MP - NOT for FW which is v2.78 and for which there is AFAIK no patch. If you have installed the 1.3 patch on your FW directory as i understand from the above, you will need to scratch that folder and reinstall FW. ------------------ ____________ Scouse Git[1] "CARTAGO DELENDA EST" - Cato the Censor "The Great Library must be built!" No:Install Civ 2 Multi ( Not Gold just 'normal') Works. Install FW Error : Requires smedsnet.dll to run civ2.exe The original civ2.exe which FW leaves behind still runs The only way to get the FW civ2.exe to run is to install the relevant civ2 patch 1.3. Seems daft, but its true. Either way I loose the Mplayer part of the first menu. Then most scenarios cannotfind label.txt. Duh..... Anyway, guess who was born in New Brighton... Al G |

I'm not sure if this is your problem or not, but when I installed fantastic worlds it broke Civ II on my machine although I don't remember the exact nature of the problem.I checked the Microprose web site and at that time there was a tech note concerning FW install problems. Their solution was to kill off everything in the Close Program menu (Ctrl-Alt-Del) except systray and explorer, then install FW. If you try this I would suggest a fresh start. Uninstall Civ II and FW, then install Civ II, don't install any patch, then install FW as I described. And there should be no need for a patch after installing FW, FW contains all the latest stuff for Civ II. Hope this helps! John-SJ
