I'm sure the game is everything I've heard, but I still would like to try before I buy. Is there a demo, and if so, where? |

You might consider Civ 1 a 'demo' for Civ II - if so it is available for < £5 in the UK - and I have heard rumours of abandonware sites .... ------------------ ____________ Scouse Git[1] "CARTAGO DELENDA EST" - Cato the Censor "The Great Library must be built!" Try a search on Yahoo or Lycos, they might point you there. If not, maybe wait until someone posts it up, but I really think you should run and buy it pretty quickly.------------------ The Year 2000 - dawn of the Cheery O's |

Don't worry about demoing Civ 2 bud, you won't be disappointed. Best game ever made. Period. You can say that again, drake. I've never seen a demo. Probably because one isn't needed, especially at today's prices. If you like gaming, you'll love civ. Go ahead and buy it. If you don't like it, we'll all chip in and give you a refund. |

I second this You won't feel sorry buying it, Nhoj. It will be a good training for Civ3 (mid or end 2001, if we have luck) [This message has been edited by Tiberius (edited December 20, 2000).] |

I agree and I'll give some of my drachmas (or euros or whatever) to you if you don't like CIV2. Just buy the game! |

Don't bother with a demo. You can get CIV2 cheap, cheap, cheap. You will probably be able to find it in some clearance rack or something.------------------ Save the whales, collect the whole set!! On the off chance that you're a Mac user, a Mac Civ2 demo is available on the MacSoft site. However, as others mentioned, even the Mac Civ2 Multiplayer Gold Ed. (MPG) is cheap and readily available for less than $20 US; MPG is what you want! ------------------ Be what you is and not what you is not. Don't do it, man! You'll soon find yourself glued to the computer 24/7, without a social life, saying to yourself "just ONE more turn". Not that there's anything wrong with that. Seriously, though. This game is a must buy. I've seen regular ol' v 2.42 around here for less than 10 bucks, and I'm sure you could find it on E-bay or something for a lot less. --Teeks |

okay, me and my little group of Civ II fans here were MPG-less after one guy left for the Air Force, so we were stuck playing regular 2.42, then, one guy was at Wal-Mart and alas! There was multiplayer gold for only $8US, in the box with the advance map and the help book. There was rejoicing in the land! now the Russian's and British are beating up on Napoleon, and we're all happy. |

I think this was a big joke on Microprose's side. Let's make people think it's a 2-CD set and sell it for $9.99 Well, I bought it and opened it. It's really one CD. The Tech Tree poster occupies the other half. I thought I got taken until I found myself playing at least 5 hours a-day. |
