Well here are some questions that I am sure have been asked before,Just recently buying a new pent 4 (what a sucker I know) and installing win2k I thought, well I'll just install the classic civ and patch and play. Not so easy so far. The game will only run without CD which is OK but not ideal, any suggestions? Also, when downloading the hires patch I got only .wav files. Were the icon/terrian updates discontinued or something? If anyone has a win2k machine with classic civ ii patched up and working then some "how to" info would be appreciated, |

I have seen several thread with problems of running civ2 under win2000. Usually they have been solved with a windows file called winG, its avaiable for download at the windows site, you might be find the URL in an old thread about two to tree months back in this forum, or at sidgames, or at civfanatics, one thread answer IIRC seem to suggest (unclearly)that the winG file was on the win2000 programs disk but was not included in thoses that installed autopmaticcally and that you could manually install it from the program disk. Note that the G in winG is uppercase.------------------ Gaius Mucius Scaevola Sinistra Pontificator Pendanticus older richer & wiser than you [This message has been edited by Lefty Scaevola (edited December 17, 2000).] |

As far as I know the hi-res patch consists of two parts, one containing the graphics and the other one containing the sounds. You should download and install both parts. | |
