I just recently started playing Civ, and for the first time launched a space ship. My system locks up every time I get to the year that my ship is supposed to land. I have disabled all the graphic options figuring it might be because my computer is too lame, but it still locks up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have the CD-ROM in your drive. I never do, and when AC comes along it just skips the closing movie sequence (not that it ever crashed the odd time I had the disc in the drive). Maybe it won't crash if you start the game without the CD.

The version I've got (CIV II Multiplayer Gold) won't actually start unless I put the CD in the drive. I'd skip the movie sequence altogether if I could, I just want to win the game!

Sorry, I have version 242, and didn't know that MGE required the CD in the drive.

Can't be of any other help, I'm afraid.

(I just changed my user name from Tom DeMille, by the way )

Hello!
I think I had the same problem, can't remember the exact solution. If your game locks up *after* the end movie, it really did not lock up. The game counts the end score, and computes the graphical display, and this takes time, several minutes maybe.
If it locks up before playing the end movie, it could be something different.
