I don't know what happened. It seems like both v2.42 succession games have come to a grinding halt. From what I can tell, I passed the save to HsFB on 11/14. HsFB downloaded it on 11/17 and said that he'd pass it by the 20th. Today is 8 days since my pass.I can tell you that I left HsFB with 2 cities and 3 troops to move for 10 turns. I am not sure what happened. Who is keeping the history for this game? Johnmcd, is that you? Do we continue with Hueij? Do you need me to pass the game again? I'd like this succession to continue. |

Sorry, i am involved in another succession game at another site, and had to play my turn the same time as this one.The time periods coincede, and i got confused and played 15 instead of 10 turns. I'll mail it this night. |

Can't we make some time-rule or something? Like, when you can't make it in let's say three days you have to pass it on to the next? It's over ten days now without anything happening... |

I don't have a problem with that. This very issue came up during another succession game. People started passing the save on when they knew they couldn't play within a reasonable time period. I think the move to 10 moves from 20 moves was also an attempt to speed things up.How would we enforce this? Maybe the person that starts the game and keeps it's history, monitors the thread and determines when a save must be passed to the next person. The same thing has happened on the AKC succession. I don't want to be the hard ass, but I think 3 days is plenty of time. |

Well, forget it. Another day gone by... Johnmcd, you can scratch my name from the list and send the save-file to the next one (if you ever get it). Maybe next time I can get in a game where people actually do what they promise...Good luck with the game... |

Well now we have people quitting. I passed my save on the 14th. it's been almost 2 weeks. I just passed the save on to maud dib. |

I know it's only been a day here, but another succession game (mge n-ics sg) is getting ready to declare Maud Dib missing in action. He has not posted there since the 23rd or here since the 10th.Do I wait 2 more days or pass the game to Hueij today, who seems to regret quitting? Johnmcd, what do you say? |

Ok. See, a little feed back helps me understand what is going on. Do you have a site that you could post the file to? Could you try a new, free email service? address.com, yahoo.com, altavista.com, etc. all have free email services.There is always a work around. |

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude by ignoring you, I normally post at work but have been too busy of late. I am at home just now.I say we scratch him, pass the save on to Hueij. If you would like to send me a copy at johnmcdiarmid@newscientist.net I'd appreciate it, I haven't seen a save since my first turn. |

No I'm sorry. I am just frustrated that this succession idea seems to be dying because we can't find a way to to take less than a week per round. It seems to be an issue on most of the succession threads. > I'll send a copy to you and Hueij by tonight. Hopefully Hueij still wants to play. re: who is doing what?Your guess is as good as mine. I think we all assumed that MD was MIA. At least I did. Sorry MD - I think. Anyway, I think it would be nice if MDs save was passed to Hueij, who'd pass it to Johnmcd. Hueij you said that you were planning on playing this friday. If Johnmcd or MD can get that save to you today you should be able to play without too much of a problem. Am I wrong on this? Is this too much of a mess and we start over? Are we all from Florida or what? ------------------

I think skrobism's suggestion sounds reasonable for you all. That from a non-partisan point of view.  BTW. Heard of a bumper sticker yesterday. Florida - If you don't like the way we count, move to one of the other 53 states!  ------------------

I opened my e-mail early this morning and found the saved file sent by Skrob--it was dated Sunday.Because of work I finally had the chance to get to my e-mail; hence the previous posts. Since I did not now who was next, I just sent the file back to John who started the game. After reading the above posts, I sent Hueji the game. ------------------

Just sent my save to John...Opened two huts, Masonry and an Archer, Edinburgh started on the Colossus and founded a new city with the typical Celtic name of Hueijville An Edinburgh warrior is next to an unopened hut but is needed for martial law in Edinburgh, so, if it was still my turn I would open it with the Archer who is nearby Oh yeah, almost forgot, Barbs have landed near EdwardI... |

Hey, no need to get pissed... Since you started the game and mentioned somewhere above that you only received one game I thought it appropriate to send it to you. If you don't want it just throw it away...About this thing being a cooperative, yeah, I noticed that. Only thing is my definition of it differs from yours I think... And maybe I'm stupid but after scrolling up and down, left and right, and diagonally I still have no clue to who to send it to. Maybe I also should have waited ten days...

I am pissed that people can't be bothered to either play the game in a reasonable time frame or can't bring themselves to spend five minutes to work out whose turn it is next, which is all it took me.Accordingly I will take my turn this evening and there is no need for you to forward it to anyone else. Re the diplo being the poor man's caravan: How do you mean that? Can the Diplo be used to increase trade somehow?

Skrobism - Trade has not yet been discovered - so NO caravans to assist in building wonders! One way around this problem is to use diplos and disband them in the city building the wonder. ------------- SG (2) |
