I recently installed win2k on my computer (well, actually I got a new computer with it on it) and I can't run Civ2: ToT anymore. I can't even get into the game...as soon as I click on civ2.exe, I get the "civ2.exe has generated errors...blah blah blah" crap. I really want to play civ2! Anyone have any suggestions??Thanks

At the risk of apearing facile - why do yo want Windows NT on a personal machine?? Dump it and load 98SE - IMHO the slight gain in stability offered by Win 2K is more than offset by its ferocious unwillingness to accomodate anything that isn't a pure 32 bit applicationI'm sure this doesn't help - but it's the best I have to offer.... ------------------ ____________ Scouse Git[1] "CARTAGO DELENDA EST" - Cato the Censor "The Great Library must be built!" |

Civ2 is really a 16-bits program, designed for win3.1x and WinG. You will meet problems on NT/W2K.It's running on my W2K-machine, though. Most important: install WinG first. It's on the CD, or you can find it on Microsoft's site. Try http://download.microsoft.com/download/platformsdk/wing/1/WIN98/EN-US/Wing10.exe W2K is a Real Men's OS. Win9x is for kids. Seriously, some of us are IT professionals, and need that extra stability, even at home or need to do minor testing from home machine. And some of us want NTFS and real user security, not wanting the 9-year old kid to see ALL picture files stored... C.

I am an IT professional - and I stand by my earlier remark - although I will accept your points are well made! My brat daughter is a little older - and probably doesn't want me to see all the pictures on her machine!! ------------------ ____________ Scouse Git[1] "CARTAGO DELENDA EST" - Cato the Censor "The Great Library must be built!" |
