Muad'Dib's forename is Paul and so he signed his e-mail and brainless chump here trying to do everything too quickly thought it was Paul vdb and therefore not current. I don't know how many of you noticed but the first succession game has reached it's conclusion. It was a great victory for Apolyton and the most fun I've had in ages. I do have a suggestion for future games, though. At some point, I'm not sure where, the number of moves might want to be reduced to around 5 per turn. I would suggest two reasons for this. The first is that in my last turn, I only took 8 moves before passing it on. I was absolutely running amok amongst the AI and was actually accomplishing too much on my watch. The second reason is that for those of us prone to verbositiveness in our recaps, 5 moves would be much easier upon which to espouse. Any thoughts? ------------------ Frodo lives! |

kcbob - I agree. Another thing to consider might be cutting the team back to 5 players; then each player could expect to have more than one or two chances at the helm. |

DaveV, I hadn't considered that option. That might work, too. Or some combination of both. The gigamap succession game looks like it's blasting off with 7 players on board.------------------ Frodo lives! |

5 turns seems fine. I haven't played yet so I'm not sure. I reserve my final opinion until later.Maybe where we have 20 turns cut it to 10 15 turns to 7 10 turns to 5 The turns in the start of the game do go very fast, but if it was 5 turns across the board I guess the rounds would just be faster. I think leaving the games open to up to 10 players is fine. Especially if the number of turns per round is cut back. This emphasizes the succession aspect to this type of play. The idea that you have contributed to your civilization but (to paraphrase) the wheel has turned, now the time has come, the time has come for johnmcd to go. (that might be lost on those not in the states - no offense intended.) Maybe instead of limiting the number of players per game we could start 2 games with inverted lists. Note: turn = one Civ turn round = one group of Succession Game Turns ------------------ Skrobism - it's a way of life [This message has been edited by skrobism (edited November 08, 2000).] |

I didn't mean to place any blame on you or suggest it was in anyway your fault. I've been having real issues with my PC. On Monday I reformatted my hard drive and dismantaled it and put it back togeather in a different order, its seems to be better now but before hand I was having some issues with outlook downloading mail to an non existant folder or something. It was odd and I lost quite a lot of mail, thats why I stuck up three (or four) addresses in the end. It seems to working better now, though I couldn't mail last night for different ISP reasons. Anyway, the problem was really just a symptom of other problems. How many warriors did you think we needed!?!?!?!? |

Tangent room, table for twelve... Tell your brother congratulations for me and please pass this bit of wisdom along to him. Before my wife and I were married, we attended a marriage seminar. I received the best advice from it. That advice was: Never, and I mean never tell your wife that her figure is anything other than what you want. Trust me on this one. ------------------ Frodo lives! JohnMcD and what happened under his auspicious reign.Though the reign of JohnMcD the first heralded in an era of common education and an unprecedented drive towards literacy there was no written history kept of his reign, all we know now is from folklore and guess work. Whole armies were disbanded that the men so employed could speed along the construction of a great many temples and train to become priests in these new places of worship Their sons would be scholars in the libraries that were being built when John died. The great Cathedral was either completed at the end of his reign or shortly thereafter, historians are divided on this issue, that it pleased him greatly that it was built is clear. When he came to the throne this once proud seafaring nation had abandoned their boats to rot in port. The boats were quickly recommisioned and packed with horsemen and emissaries . Charged to explore the world, to find fruited hills and fertile valleys, these boats set off. Though the conditions were hard and the Gods ungenerous initially the completion of the temples ashore seemed to soften them to favour our mariners and an archipelago was discovered in the east, the full extent of this island chain is as yet unknown. Then he died. |
