I've compiled a complete chart of speeds (years of travel time) for fusion-powered space ships. The chart shows the optimum number of structurals to build for each viable combination of components and modules, and the travel time. As stated in the game manual, if you build fewer than the optimum number of structurals, some of the components won't be installed; but if you build more than the optimum number of structurals, the speed will decrease due to extraneous weight. This chart goes all the way up to ships that have 4 + 4 + 4 modules. It is available for purchase ($2.00) at http://www.mightywords.com Go to Games & Gaming -- Computer Games -- Various, or search for Martin Schell, or use your right mouse button to copy-and-paste the direct url: http://www1.mightywords.com/ematter/subjects.asp?VM=e&SID=1171&SubjectCode=CVE&filter=

Mark,I wondered the same thing, but didn't care enough to dig up the thread or the one from a week or so ago where someone was telling about seeing this kind of ad on another site. Then again maybe it is just one of his customers who has finally seen the light and is just trying to get their money back from the rest of us. When building the spaceship, assuming I get that far, I never have the luxury of deciding how big to make it. The problem is always can I get something launchable built, launched, and landed before the opposition. Ken |

When I first started to get close to beating the AI ar Deity, I was just behind it at getting a functional SS launched. So, I went back a decade and tried harder.Everytime I did, the AI launched a faster SS. I saved those files and looked at the SS formulas. It took about 20 tries (and going farther back in time) to beat the AI). But I have a decent selection of SS formulas for free: 15, 3, 3, 1, 1, 1 15.7 years 17, 4, 4, 1, 1, 1 13.2 18, 4, 4, 1, 1, 1 13.3 21, 5, 5, 1, 1, 1 10.0 23, 6, 6, 1, 1, 1 10.9 31, 8, 8, 3, 3, 3 12.0 33, 8, 8, 1, 1, 1 05.7 35, 6, 6, 1, 1, 1 09.0 Free! Like most everyone doesn't know those... Is there a faster one than the 33?

15-1-1-1-1-1 with fusion takes 36 years.Only useful while turns are still in 10 year(or more) increments.Nevermind the 79% chance,it WILL make it. |

Taking Smash's advice to heart, I built a 15-1-1-1-1-1 on tonights OCC game and I MADE IT!! This is the FIRST time that the AI hasn't whacked me during the OCC game! The big difference, I think, is that I have quit using MPG for single player games and am using the original Civ II for OCC. Between a friendlier AI, gifts and being stuck out on an island far away from the blood-thirsty AI, I finally had a decent chance. And, no, I didn't play Diety. I just wanted to hopefully win at least ONCE! ------------------ "And now for something completely different..." - John Cleese |

Don't believe him, it's really a very friendly fortnightly social club, the ambience of which is beginning to be appreciated by the week.
