I recieved this e-mail today quote:
Hi Franklin,I work for an English computer magazine due to launch in September, to be dedicated entirely to strategy gaming. As well as the more obvious news and reviews sections, we are really trying to capture the "community" feel that has sprung up around games such as Civilization II, and whilst researching this I found your site. Basically we are trying to put together a panel of experts for several of the top games, and run regular features on those games - Civilization, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer and games of a similar calibre. We would really like you to join our panel. There would not be a great deal of work involved - only around 3-400 words per month. What we would be looking for would be a round-up of the Civilization II community on the internet - new scenarios, units, competitions and such like. There may also be a section where readers with problems on a game write in to be answered by experts such as yourself, and/ or a hypothetical section where a number of experts are asked how they would deal with a certain situation - hopefully this would show readers that there is more than one way to get out of any problem. In return for your help you would not only get your names and faces in the magazine (guaranteeing minor celebrity status and the chance to act like a real know-it-all git whenver Civ II comes up in conversation!) but we would mention your website in the editorial content and, if you would like us to, we can place a link on our cover CD to take readers to your page. If you are interested, or you know of anyone who might be, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss this matter further. Thanks for your time, and best wishes for the future, Mike O'Sullivan Staff Writer Strategy Player Call me insane again and I'll eat your other eyeball

Shaka,You know, I think I will. Ming, Well my site has fallen into the vast internet graveyard or ghost towns that now proliferate the back allies of the WWW. But you know that I still average around 5-10 hits a day! maybe I should ressurect it. |

Franklin,You may be getting hits from people like me who have lots of old links in the favorites file. I periodically run down through the file and check or update the links. Ones that bomb and that were of minor interest at the time I saved the link get dumped. Ones that I really wanted to have get tracked down to their new homes, if at all possible. I have several that I hit up about every 6 months to a year just to be sure that they still exist and don't get lost. Ken |
