I don't know if anyone has address this in the past but for a while I have been think about the way the moment you get industrialization you whole empire get a face lift. This seem kind of unreasonable that with no effert that your cities should look different and I have been thinking that only cities that have built a factory should change to show that you really have industrialized. Just because you have the idea or the tech to become industrailized doesn't mean that you are, you have to show it through production. This of course should also apply to the modern city icon. |

I kinda hate that Industrial period city icon, and that modern too. I like that Classic Forum one best, it gives the idea that your cities are build of white marble, and have lots of parks and trees, wide streets and other classic things.Does anybody know how to change the game so, that when you develop industrialization, those red bricks dont appear? ------------------ "Victrix Fortunae Virtus"

However, changing the cities.gif would result in EVERYONE looking like you did when they got industrial/modern.The technique I used for a scenario I have yet to finish (I think this works) is to replace the Industrilization and Automobiles(?) techs that change your cities with a couple of the `extra' user-definable techs. As far as I could tell the change in graphics is tied to the specific tech slot. So I renamed the two Indust & Auto to `BADBADBAD' and removed all their prerequisites etc. Then I put the old info into the custom slots so that the custom techs were exact copies of Idust & Auto. I hope that wasn't too unclear. Joe |

Joe - your plan will keeping the old city styles will work, however it will also have some unexpected consequences. The Idustrialization and Automobile technologies both cause an incease in population pollution. Furthermore, the Industialization technology upgrades random barbarians to the Musketeer and Cannon types. Visit my website for more information on the effects that certain techslots have on the game. |
